About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to beat the Elite Four and collect all 151 Pokemon

ABOUT ME

Let me just start off by saying my profile makes me seem so boring. I'm just not that creative...But anywho, I'm currently a student at Michigan State University. I study German, Japanese and TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. I did just finish my undergraduate, however next year I'll still be a student; I'll be student teaching Japanese and German at a high school in Michigan.

I made my first trip out of the country when I was 16--I spent 6 months as an exchange in Japan. Since then, I have loved travelling and meeting new people.

PHILOSOPHY

I just like to have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I just started Couch Surfing and haven't done anything yet. Next year (September 2012), I'll be living at home. I'll have plenty of space to host travelers, but I doubt that anyone would want to take a vacation to see the wonderful Metro-Detroit area...

This summer, I'm hoping to try out Couch Surfing in Europe!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just started and have had a few experiences traveling through Germany. I'm looking forward to continue traveling and to start hosting!

Interests

Seeing new things, travelling, languages, the outdoors, camping, having fun, hanging out with friends, meeting new people. I just started playing ultimate frisbee. I also like trying out new food (both eating and cooking). I've recently started cooking some Korean food. I also enjoy being reminded of my childhood. And by that I mean playing/talking about Pokemon and N64 and such.

but really anything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like things that will make me laugh. I watch, almost exclusively, comedies and children's movies (namely, Pixar).

I really like any music except country and most rap. I listen to music in phases. My current phase is Deathcab for Cutie. I also had a Foster the People and Taylor Swift phase. So really, I listen to anything.

Books.... Not a big fan of reading. I think my academic career has made me hate reading so much, that it's hard for me to pick up a book for pleasure. The last book I read was 13 Reasons Why. I enjoy books that are about youth/ open the minds of youth to show how they think (Did I mention I'm going to be a teacher?).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Study abroad in Japan! I spent 6 months in Japan as a high school student and one year in Japan as a university student. I was, actually, in Japan when the big earthquake and tsunami hit. I'm not saying that that's an amazing thing (that I've done...?), but it is interesting. Japan holds a very important part in my heart and life and I think I've learned a lot about people from being in Japan at that time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm almost certified to teach Japanese, German and English.. So I could teach any of those three.... kinda. I'm actually studying abroad to learn German. So I'd like to be able to practice some German, too :)

I like cooking, but I usually just read from recipes. So, I don't think there could be any teaching there.

I'm also a Boy Scout, so I know a little bit about the outdoors.
