About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a 26 year old curious about the world around me. It's my dream to travel out of the bounds of the United States and I wish to see as much as I can before my time is up. I'm currently in school so I am unable to host at the moment. I love doing spontaneous things and putting a smile on my face as much as possible. I enjoy meeting new people, trying new recipes, anything with art (painting, sculpting, stained glass, glass blowing, etc), I'm shy at first and don't talk a lot until I get to know you more. I love adventure and any activity that has to with the outdoors.

I'm somewhat of an introvert. I'm perfectly content with doing my own thing in a room full of people. Give me time, I'll open up!

PHILOSOPHY

"I tried to find someone to tell me how to paint landscapes but I found I couldn't. They could tell me how they painted theirs, but couldn't tell me how to paint mine." -Georgia O'keeffe

"you never know how long anythings going to last. the only thing anyone knows in this life is that anything can happen." - Dana (the L word)

"Love is reverence, and worship, and glory, and the upward glance. Not a bandage for dirty sores. But they don't know it. Those who speak of love most promiscuously are the ones who've never felt it. They make some sort of feeble stew out of sympathy, compassion, contempt and general indifference, and they call it love. Once you've felt what it means to love -the total passion for the total height- you're incapable of anything less." -The Fountainhead

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted many people and I've stayed with numerous people on my trip to the UK and Europe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined the community Summer of 2011. I hosted various types f people for a year before experiencing surfing for the first time in Great Britain. I attended a meeting in Paris and want to attend many more when I return to the states. My most cherished guest is a crazy girl from Norwich. She was the first surfer to stay more than 2 days and she opened my eyes to the possibilities of the site.

I continue to help surfers who come to my area when I am unable to host them by providing information about camp sites and hotels in my town or any available hosts in neighboring towns.

Interests

Photography is a major part of my life as well as any other type of fine arts including theatre, art, and music. Anything with bright colors grabs my attention or open spaces like the country. I'm a huge fan of books, mostly fiction and fairytale. I'm an animal lover, movie goer, nature walker, open-minded kind of person. I'm still young and naive and have so much to learn about the world around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I will watch every movie under the sun. I love movies! I enjoy some documentaries and I love plays (its just a live movie). I'm a Walt Disney movie freak and anything that involves a Disney movie I become obsessed with it. That being said my favorite princess is Arielle. I'm not a huge fan of scary movies but I'll watch them. I'm the type of person to yelp when something jumps out of the dark, especially when in the theatre. I'm a big fan of claymation films and films from the 90s like home alone, uncle buck, grumpy old men, etc. Comedies, romantics, thriller, heart wrenching, do you get the picture?

I loooooove books!!!! There are so many I love I cant name them all so here are a few of the most memorable: the book of lost things, tipping the velvet, fingersmith, water for elephants, delerium, etc.

I like the kind of music that makes your heart sad. The kind with a hidden obvious message. The kind that's so happy its sort of sad. Some artists are Adele, Imogen Heap, Rachael Yamagata, Regina spektor, etc. Its usually a female voice with a piano. I cannot stand to listen to death metal, most rap wants me to glue my ears together and I'll tolerate country if there's nothing on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

visited 18 states (36%)

visited 6 states (2.66%)Create your own visited map of The World or Like this? try: Google Position

I've traveled. Mostly around my home state, Nebraska, but I've been to about a quarter of the country. Where I live there's a place called the Bad Lands. At a certain point there is an area called 1000 foot drop and you feel you're like on the edge of the earth. For as far as you see the land you're standing has eroded away and fades into the horizon. When you crawl as far as possible without falling off the edge and look down there is a 1,000 foot fall staring back up. It's Nebraska's own Grand Canyon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm able to share and teach any knowledge for those who are willing to listen. I have many talents that I cannot put into words. You'll have to find out what they are!
