Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am trying to figure this world out.
ABOUT ME
I am energetic, impatient, impulsive, intelligent and curious. I learn quickly and I want to try everything, everywhere before I die. Because that could always be as soon as tomorrow, that means I better not waste any time sleeping.
I am trying to find a career that will allow me to travel this way forever. Or maybe not, I dunno.
PHILOSOPHY
As Hunter S Thompson said, "Buy the ticket, take the ride".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I used couchsurfing while I was backpacking around South America, but I never really was willing to plan ahead enough to get much together. From March 2011 to May 2012 I lived in Rio de Janeiro and I went to an event maybe twice a month. The couchsurfing community in Rio is huge and full of incredible people.
Now I am living in Lisbon and I participate in an event or two each month, but unfortunately I don't have space to host anyone.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I had several Brits and a few Danes stay with some friends in St. Louis a few years ago through couch surfing, and we had great times. While I lived with Rodrigo in Rio de Janeiro we had many couchsurfers and I loved meeting new people at the meetings and other events. Since I arrived in Portugal I've been going to events regularly and now I am hosting people and trying to travel when I can.
Interests
My hobbies include music, skiing and fighting. I play guitar and harmonica and I train brazilian jiu-jitsu religiously, which really conflicts with my other hobby, drinking.

Music, Movies, and Books
Lots of travel books, adventure non-fiction. Also some Vonnegut, some Kerouac, whatever is recommended to me, really.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen the sunrise over Jerusalem, Barcelona, New York City, San Francisco, Oslo, Stockholm, London, and several other cities. I also have been skydiving, fought in several different styles of martial arts on multiple continents, been robbed in all sorts of fun ways, and gotten lost in every new place I've been.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know how to fight reasonably well, and I hope to teach martial arts as a career someday. I want to learn everything I can from all the smartest, most capable people I can meet.
I am learning Portuguese pretty much exclusively through asking other people lots of questions. I did an MBA for all of 2013, and then I got a fake job, and now I got a real job. Its the first real job I ever had that I actually liked.
