About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To have fun and live by the "try anything once" philosophy. So far I have learned a lot, and consequently changed the way I look at and think about the world. I hope to keep having new experiences in the future whether educational, travel, or otherwise!

ABOUT ME

Growing up as an identical twin, having an older brother with Downs, and a Mom who was never really there, I learned early on that
1. sharing is caring and 2. things could always be worse.
Until the age of 14 or so I was a hopeless dork with a terrible self-image. And a passion for the color (lime) green that I still can't shake.
In highschool I evolved into something of a social butterfly and applied myself wherever possible (clubs, academics, etc).
At 18 (2008) I started my first year of college at TSU (fondly referred to as the Harvard of the Midwest) were I studied French. This year I am at UCBN in Caen, France continuing my studies here until June 2010, and then returning to TSU to get my bachelors degree and do what, I'm not really sure.
I generally describe myself as an open-minded, friendly person who likes to experience new things and learn from life as much as I can, in and outside the classroom.
I have always dreamed of having a pet sloth. I kow this is silly, but they just seem like the perfect animal to have around. Especially because he would never run away, jump on me, require walking, etc.
I was a vegetarian for four years, until my iron deficiency got to the point where I was taking fistfulls of suppliments and still getting sick all the time. However, I still enjoy making veg food, my favorite is thai.
I have already decided that if I had to choose my last meal it would be a box of Good n' Plenty licorice candies and a 12 oz. diet coke. These are my guilty pleasures, apart from reading and the occasional people-watching session in the park.
Yes, I think that's about it...

PHILOSOPHY

Wow, philosophical thoughts...
Well, my personal philosophy has always been pretty simple, especially because it comes in list form.
1. Treat others the way you wish to be treated and we'll all get along splendidly
2. Try anything once. The worst that could happen is that you have a potentially bad experience, but in the end you learn from it
3. No Regrets. Life is too sort, and I am too young to dwell on such things as regrets.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I have not participated in the least bit, considering that I just joined CS in the very recent past.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the coolest things in my life to happen thus far was when I went to see The Grand Canyon for the first time in March. I was with my Aunt (who is really more of a Mentor to me) driving up from Arizona and trying to get there before dark. We were listeng to a really beautiful piano piece by Yann Tierson when we pulled up to the rim of the canyon. We got out of the car but left the music playing. We sat on the edge of the canyon as the sun was starting to set. At my favorite part of the song I told my Aunt (Teri) that I loved her. This is really cliché, but we both started crying and just held each other until it got dark. It was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Things I have learned:
-One should never, under any circumstances, attempt to lick a steak knife or any knife for that matter.
-A guy who is nice to you but mean to the waitress is not in fact a nice guy
-What is it like to be a twin? I get this terribly vague question fairly often. All I can say is that I can more greatly appreciate being alone, and more greatly appreciate sharing.
