ABOUT ME

I'm passionate about Intentional Communities which I define as groups of people sharing resources, families and their imagination to liberate themselves from the burdens of social chains and activate a lifestyle pursuing their passions! I left my magical community in Oakland and Santa Barbara, CA to study inspiring utopias around the world. I'm planning to utilize what I glean to create tools to expand the positive impact of Intentional Communities in the US!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not planning to have a couch for a few years, but I do hope to be living in a Yurt, Sailboat, and Hobbit House (yes magic is real, Check out The Farm Ecohostel). I'd love to offer up a few square feet of earth to rest your head once there is some I can legally offer.

Interests

Movement, tinkering, and debating are the fuel my passionate life runs on.

I love contorting my body to new rhythms in dance forms like ecstatic, contact, blues and acroyoga (yes, that feels like a beat free dance to me).

My current tinkering infatuation is collapsible homes. I'd love to master that art of building yurts and tents out of organic or reused materials to empower people to become more fearlessly migratory during this age of climate disruption. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpIK6TIMz7k)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ego trip turned Humble Lesson

I was on bike tour from Butte, MT to Glacier National park. I was meeting my buddies who were biking from Seattle to Paris for the climate talks (I feel so blessed to be friends with modern heroes). Anyways needed to make it from Butte to Missoula in basically 1.5 days, which I think is about 120 miles...eeek.

My bike arrived in Butte in a cardboard box to an old hotel and I slept in front of the only bike shop in town so I could be first in line to use his tools to rebuild my bike at sunrise. He was an amazing old dude who had bike Ukraine with his wife on a mountain bike tandem! (this is before bike touring was cool, which is still true, and before tandem mountain bikes were funny in Bend, Oregon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbxSK5PCSo8)

I was making good time, but by 2 p.m. I still had 75 miles left, so I started looking at short cuts. I found a mysterious dotted line on my phone map and went for it. I arrived at the dirt road and noticed it was nicely packed with clay dirt. The ride was amazing!! I was rolling through fields and forest with golden eagles, moose, and deer calmly watching me. Then...the....rain...came!

The clay turned to cement and my bike was so fused that I had to take my bags off, hike those for a mile, then walk back, pick up my bike, and walk that for a mile. It wasn't 2 steps forward and 1 back, it was 1 step forward and then hella steps back and forth in a rainstorm. I started freaking out cause I couldn't see lights and I had meat on me, and was sleeping in hungry bear territory!

I finally reach a gravel road! I started peddling, chatting with a local who drove up beside me about how I should tell all my California friends that they still scalped people out here to prevent yuppies from moving out here.

The sun was setting (it was almost solstice, so at that latitude sunset is at 9 pm) and I saw a light off in the distance that I was planning to sleep in the back yard of, hopefully with permission. I heard a slight click while I was zooming down my last hill, when suddenly my face was zooming towards the pavement and everything I was carrying came crashing down onto me. My steel bike frame and fork collapsed like a paperclip! Totally freak accident caused by coincidence of frame stress and just the right road vibrations.

This is the abridged version...
Turns out I crashed next to a Mennonite Community! A mum with an SUV loaded with kids, rolled up and called the village men. 3 dudes in a huge pick up came and loaded my bike and bloody body into their truck. I was so happy to see them I laughed the whole way to the local hotel. They payed for my room, gave me medicine and food, and finally tried to give me cash, I had to decline that level of generosity. I will be eternally grateful to them!

Anyways I hitchhiked in the morning with an animal trapper who was selling bobcat pelts to Chinese collectors, and made it to Missoula to my friends on time. The rest of the trip is also story worthy but we can talk about that in person!
