I enjoy traveling, meeting new people and hearing their stories, spending time in the great outdoors, and exploring the unique variety of cultural, historical, and geographic features any given destination may offer. I'm always down for an adventure and I love meeting like-minded individuals (or un-like-minded individuals who can remain open to other's perspectives and ways of life 😉).

• to meet people in my travels, hear their stories, and learn about what they love about where they live
• to get a local's perspective and recommendations
• to travel in a way that is more connected with community and landscape (and less bound to society's generally consumeristic [ and expensive!] way of life). I mostly do this through hostels, wild camping, trailer camping, overlanding, and staying with family or friends. I have much more meaningful and memorable experiences this way! I also do this to contribute less to the homogenization of destinations that can happen through increasing demands of tourism on the local economy.

• I love spending time outdoors whether that is hiking, chilling at a scenic spot, dining outside, doing gardening and yardwork, camping, being on a beach, or spending time in a beautiful city park

• Music - I can appreciate just about any type of music - all styles [usually] have something wonderful about them. Electronic, lo-fi, jazz, alternative, indie, classical, fado, indietronica, rock, art pop.
• Books - I listen to a lot of books while I drive. A lot of self-help-style books - I want to explore more genres however the self-exploration curiosity pull is too strong to overcome!
• Podcasts - I listen to a few regularly - I greatly enjoy Ten Percent Happier and Know Thyself.
• Movies - I love a good documentary or offbeat film!

• I recently road-tripped across Canada (about 6,000 km) with my two cats and camped along the way, stopping to visit friends and family throughout the country along the way
• I bathed elephants in a river in Thailand
• I volunteered for species conservation in the bushlands of South Africa
• I have been in a hot spring in the wilderness of northern BC near the Yukon in -40C temperatures
