About Me
Viajando conocí el mundo para encontrarme a mi.
("Travelling I got to know the world, to find myself")
I had the great opportunity to get around the world a bit - I lived in places like Mexico City, Northeast Brazil, Bangladesh and Nepal. I travelled Africa and Asia, I have seen and wondered about so many things.
I learnt that the best way to face something unknown is with a smile and to react to something new by loving it. The world is just beautiful and every day is a gift of life.
I teach at university about the development of cities in the current era. We also do research about this in Africa and Latin America. My main interest is how to make urban areas better places for all - which is a real challenge, and a question of balance.
I like meeting people and hear their stories, see them in their own surroundings. Humans could be just such a great species - but why don't we manage to be? I have an idea, which is ... Well, maybe we can talk about this ...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was very active at CS in Nepal (trying to be active in Bangladesh too, but there were not so many people passing by...). Ii felt sometimes like the whole Kathmandu CS community was passing through my house - fantastic company, cooking, chatting or just hanging out.. and I made great friends through Couch Surfing. Here now in the Netherlands am often not at home, so cannot host, but give it a shot!
I am always happy to provide shelter to anyone travelling with an open mind and heart. I like to spend hours in the kitchen with my guests - cooking, chatting, philosophising, drinking, eating... (and even dancing and singing in the kitchen - yes!)
The best thing about CS for me is that it is truly reciprocal: it is fun to give and host, and it is a pleasure to get help and surf. I am so grateful to all the wonderful people that hosted me or showed me around in their city!
Interests
I am intrigued by humanity and its ways. I strongly believe in human development... and I am passionate about learning and always curious! I got into Yoga quite deeply in Nepal and try to keep the rhythm to start the day with it, best followed by a few minutes of meditation. Ooooommmmm.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music, play myself the accordion (which is a terrific, totally underestimated instrument! ;) ) - and I enjoy going out, to concerts, or just dancing, whatever is on.
There are plenty of books I enjoy and movies I loved. It depends on my mood which I would tell you first.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are plenty of amazing things that happened to me. And still happening.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can tell you a lot about urbanisation and what it means to the world, I like talking about languages and I can share my ample knowledge about cultures (till you shut me up, please).
