About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find good in every day, and every person. To be of use.

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Georgia, studied theatre in college, lived in a couple big cities for a few years, traveled, got married, and am now back to living the small town life in Colorado with my husband.

PHILOSOPHY

Live with humility, understanding, focus, purpose, and gratitude. The rest will follow.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books include "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" (Annie Dillard), "The Tin Drum" (Gunter Grass), "One Hundred Years of Solitude" (Gabriel Garcia Marquez), "Lolita" (Vladimir Nabokov), "The Grapes of Wrath" (John Steinbeck), "Middlesex" (Jeffery Eugenides), and I'll always have a soft spot for "Peter Pan" (J.M. Barrie). I also enjoy food and travel writing, memoirs, and anything by Flannery O'Connor. Plus I'm always on the lookout for interesting contemporary fiction and welcome suggestions from others!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling in China with my soon-to-be husband in 2011, we were so fortunate to experience the Great Wall in the way that we did. We picked a lesser-known access point about an hour from Beijing, and were able to have a quiet and private hike up that particular section. We saw only a few other people on our day-long trek and were able to take in the beauty of the Wall in solitude. It was a truly unforgettable day in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm no professional chef, but I've learned a lot about cooking and baking in my own kitchen over the years! I love to share homemade meals with people and I enjoy learning about new techniques, ingredients, and food traditions. So I would be happy to share my knowledge with you and would love to learn from you in return! I also have a background in theatre and the arts, and enjoy chatting about those topics. I'm relatively new to gardening and would love to meet someone who could share some tips with me...and I'd also love to learn from anyone who has experience identifying things in the wild, such as birds or birdsongs, flowers, trees, etc. Wildflower hunting is a new hobby of mine!

Cambodia, China, Cuba, Greece, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, Thailand, Viet Nam
