Overview
About Me
Experiencing someplace new every season, we've enjoyed sharing the last two years of our lives surfing couches, spare bedrooms, and living room floors all over the world.
We've wandered all over the wilderness of Washington in a van, lived with healthy and green hosts in LA, and gotten to know some great kids in Kentucky. We've memorized the catacombs lain deep beneath Paris, helped start a comic book business in Boston, and cat-sat (cat-sitted?) in NYC for a sweet couple on their honeymoon. We've spent the last season living in a grass hut in Goa while I write a bit... and that's just the last six seasons alone!
Now, with invitations from friends and fellow explorers to come experience Alaska, Australia, and all over the US, we have no clue what is in store ahead, but if you live someplace interesting, or are doing something cool and could use a helping hand, we would love to come and take part!
Comfortable with all walks of life and ways of being, we are good conversationalists and amazingly easy to get along with
Our only difficulty as adventurers is sadly a dietary one... Lis is severely allergic to both Onions (even "spices" in the ingredients) & Cow's Milk in any form (even baked in bread)... so we often avoid going out to restaurants, but on the other hand, we have become WONDERFUL cooks who clean up afterward!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We love travelling and making new friends, a season here and there, learning from all the different people we meet, and the strange circumstances that only adventure can bring!
This is our "Journeyman" phase of life a time to go out in the world and learn from different masters, figuring out how to do everything we need to as the road requires.
Interests
We like cooking and bouldering, swimming and movies, board games and camping, hiking and chess.
Merlin loves a good conversation, about anything and everything. Lis loves dancing!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
We've clambered around the the miles of forbidden catacombs beneath the Paris streets and eaten an amazing homemade cherry pie while the sun set over the Grand Canyon... We've eaten squid ink pasta over candlelight in Venice, done a nude modeling gig in St Maarten, and been bartenders in Vermont.
We've gotten married, moved across the US by train, and started a business... who's to know what else will come?

What I Can Share with Hosts
We are great at preparing delicious and healthy home-cooked meals, and cleaning up the kitchen and dishes afterward. We are wonderful conversationalists and love to interact, but are good at tending to ourselves as well... speaking of "tending", we have both worked as bartenders and can make some pretty tasty drinks and infusions.
We bellydance (5+ years of Traditional Egyptian Bellydance & Tribal Fusion), and train in the martial arts (5+ years of Rope Dart & Meteor Hammer) and love to share what we know with other people, especially when we can learn something in return! These last few years, we have been especially interested in improving our skills at backpack hiking and urban exploration, as well as seeing just how good we can get at chess... though we pretty much love to play any kind of board games with good people, and if you like RPG's, both of us are fairly good storytellers!
Professionally, we have a combined 20+ years helping to turn a small basement business into a $4M in sales a year industry leading international distribution and mail order business, so despite our lack of wealth, we are an endless font of information and useful abilities if you are developing a business of your own (under the $5M/ 50+ employee mark) that we would love to share, including: Human Resources, Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Photography/Editing, Shipping, Light Manufacturing, Non-Profit Creation, Copyright Law, Debt Collection Ethics, and a whole lot more... Just ask, we love to talk shop!
Currently we are running our own small business online, selling vintage jewelry via eBay, which is what is allowing us to travel all over the US, and soon Europe while still working... we would be so glad to teach you!
