ABOUT ME

Hi I'm Caglar, I live in Berlin and love to travel the world and meet people. I studied Physics and Philosophy out of passion, I love to explore the universe, care for my plants at home, do weird programming like visualising music, train neural networks to hunt Nazis on the internet and I am currently pursuing a PhD in computational neuroscience (mostly simulating brainz like ~~what~).

I am probably what you would call a proper nerd. I do have a lot of other things in my life as well! In Berlin, I am part of a great bunch of friends and creatives. We organise small and cute festivals and parties, put together small exhibitions and go out on the streets to demonstrate for our rights.

I also have a keen interest in politics and I love to have a good conversation. I don't think that you can be purely right or wrong or that the world is black and white. Our ability to find compromise and common ground is worth more than winning a debate. I often call Berlin the most political place in the world and often it seems like that everyone here is interested in some particular social issue! It's beautiful and pretty stimulating at the same time!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We hosted a couple of times at our cosy place in Berlin. I had very pleasant experiences with CS on my own, met some great people and formed lasting relations!

- Studying cosmology, quantum mechanics, general relativity.

- The brain (Neuro-stuff, AI, ...)
- Dancing (I'm taking modern dance classes)
- Philosophy, mostly interested in Nietzsche, Socrates, Stoicism.

- I lots of street photography. Traveling and photographing is one of my oldest hobbies.
- I like art, talking about it like it's deep shit

I love psychological novels. My favourite writer is probably Milan Kundera. Maybe Hermann Hesse.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I've seen the LHC, filmed a feature-length documentary, played in the straw with my little brother, stood on a hill with my eyes closed, drove 295 km/h on the Autobahn, I've waited for Godot, fell and broke my arm and cut my own hair.
