ABOUT ME

Hmmm... A good amalgamation of easy going and laid back with an intense need to explore and jump in head first. I was raised in the US Deep South... met a German when I was 16 and that was it. Fell in love with traveling and meeting new people from foreign lands from that point onward.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to meet fun, interesting people. Period. I joined the forum a while back, have surfed a couple of time and had truly great experiences with the people who hosted me and have become friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Back before CS was on the internet, I suppose I did a lot of couch surfing with friends of friends--all via word of mouth--when I was living in and traveling around Europe. It is a wonderful way to explore, meet truly amazing people, and see beautiful places. I am looking forward to seeing how things work via an online forum.

Interessen

I could live without TV, but would surely perish without music. I like challenging sports in nature... much of my travel has been associated with mountaineering (Alps, South America) and sailing, and both of those continue to captivate me. Food... I love the culinary arts and am a sucker for a good cocktail. And while it is what I do for a living, I also have to list politics (US domestic and Int'l)as one of my personal interests as well--both personally and professionally--and I would say i definitely fall on the Left side of the spectrum.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

The list of films is way too long... favorite actors is easier: Phillip Seymour Hoffman (Charlie Wilson's War), John Cusack (Gross Pointe Blank, Say Anything), George Clooney (Good Night, and Good Luck; Syriana; Ocean's Eleven), Kirsten Dunst (Marie Antoinette), OK... this is gonna take some time...

Coming up with music is not quite as bad...mostly Electronica and alt/punk rock... Throw in a Hotel Costes CD, or a solid mash-up with Muse, or some Crystal Castles and I promise to be nodding my head to the beat. The Clash always seems to satisfy and the 80s produced the basis of much of what I consider good today...Once again, I think it is easier to say what I don't like: Modern Country and hard-core Gangster Rap... then again I do like Aristacrunk... oh, the dilemmas!!!

Just one?!?! Shared a sunrise on a perfectly calm morning 1 mile out on the Atlantic with a Shark while solo sea-kayaking from Key West, FL to my former home in Savannah, GA; Climbed Aconcagua's Polish Route and organized a rescue of a climber with cerebral edema; Witnessed Barack Obama being elected to the U.S. Presidency...
