About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring Europe, my home since 6 years! I recently left life in the city and I'm looking to establish myself in the countryside.

ABOUT ME

I studied a bunch of things and worked in a bunch of things. I've been teacher, translator, cook and international jurist/legal advisor. I love reading and talking, eating and drinking, being in beautiful places, coffee, animals and maps.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in following principles and being a good person, honest, correct, trustworthy and truthful. I believe in the strength of mankind in making the world better through the proper application of knowledge, rationality and science. I believe in seeing and enjoying the beauties of the world and of indulging in the senses. I also think that everything good in life is way better when shared!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a mild surfer but I actively take people around the city and get lost with them. I've also hosted on emergencies.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a couple of couches upon arriving in The Netherlands, met the local CS folk and just stuck around for the parties! I later surfed in Madrid, Paris, Vienna... the list grows!

Interests

The thing I like the most is to read. This includes perusing books without words, such as an Atlas. I just like all things that have to do with books!I live to learn and I'm a proud nerd/geek. I'm constantly hoarding knowledge and information over things.I have dozens of interests and keep getting more all the time but now it's mostly law (constitutional, criminal, procedural, international), history (volkenwanderung, wars, middle ages and that sort of thing) and everything revolving around it, sciences, classical music (not a piano fan though, love the harp), kendo (12 years so far), languages, animals and specially dogs and horses (dressage, basic training/schooling, refereeing and stewardship etc.), maps. Love maps!In the past I also did Judo, scuba diving (want to take it up again!), rowing (want to resume again) and other things.I love to talk and debate, and thus I'm a big lover of logic.I like cooking and eating good food, drinking (I'll drink almost anything with alcohol), coffee (fanatic/addict), wine and Jack Daniel's.Travel wise I'm still in love with Europe and try to see its beauties whenever possible (which sadly is not often enough...)

Music, Movies, and Books

A few of each, for starters:Films: The Godfather, Star Wars, Inglorious Basterds, The Princess Bride, Casablanca, Babette's Feast, Schindler's List, Indiana Jones, Tropa de EliteMusic: Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov), Mordred's Song (Blind Guardian), Sweet Home Chicago (by anyone!), Highway to Hell (Iced Earth version), Born to Raise Hell (Motörhead) mostly anything with a harp, a bagpipe or banjos in it. Also, more cowbell!I'm crazy for books and I'll probably be very interested in your book-case, personal library or bedside read. Here are a few of my favourites:- Fiction: The Hobbit (JRR Tolkien), The Odyssey (Homer), Logicomix, Night train to Lisbon, A Song of Ice and Fire...- Non-fiction: Black Holes and Time Warps: Einstein's outrageous legacy (Kip S. Thorne), Climbing Mount Improbable (Richard Dawkins), The Third Helix (Richard Lewontin), Guns, Germs and Steel (Jared Diamond). If you want to make me quiet for a few hours just give me an Atlas or Encyclopaedia of ANY sort.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2013 I did an internship in Colombia for 4 months helping an organization combat abuses and crimes committed by the government, related to their civil war.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to know more about everything! I love to learn about food and drink, local politics, historical sites, animals... I wouldn't mind learning about the plants in your garden!I can share (teach maybe?) things about all my interests and hobbies, be it scientifically correct ways of exercising or battle plans of the soviet army in WWII.

Countries I’ve Visited
