About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm currently a DC transplant, just trying to fit in a game of hoops with Barry. I recently returned from two years in Ukraine, where I was teaching English as a Peace Corps volunteer. Through and through, I'm a Californian girl at heart.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment, I am traveling -- looking to connect to real people in new places. I grew up in a tourist town and believe that if you really want to "see" a new place, you should go with someone who lives and breathes it and knows it like the back of their hand. I used to live in a housing cooperative that had its own informal type of CouchSurfing and definitely loved/miss that aspect of my life.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couch surfed in Greece, Ukraine, and Slovakia.
Interests
I am especially interested in Bay Area rap, food politics, lighthouses, coastlines, urban planning, dark chocolate and dark beer, and amateur guitar-playing.

Music, Movies, and Books
If I had to choose a favourite book (which is an incredibly cruel question) mine would be: The Brothers Karamazov.
As a little girl, I grew up listening almost exclusively to Motown and the Beatles. I'm always listening to: the Smiths, Westside Connection, and french radio.
I love Almost Famous (you can see my history classroom in the film's first five minutes). You can almost always convince me to watch Star Wars.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
"Amazing" is a strong word. Here are two random facts: I once got reprimanded by Ukrainian officials for sitting in a "non-beautiful" manner on a Lenin statue. I once walked past the president of Liberia on my walk home.
