I'm Caitlin from the UK and I'm a photographer and artist. I'm going to be spending about 6 weeks in Spain during April and May. I am keen to practice my Spanish; talking to native speakers as well as enjoying beautiful towns and cities throughout the country. I last visited Spain in 2018 and loved it, so I am excited to return! This summer, before I start university I would also like to visit Jordan and Israel as I am fascinated by Middle Eastern history. As a photographer, I mostly workwith 35mm film and I love talking photos wherever I go. I'm always keen to experience as much local culture as possible. I write a blog about my travel experiences and I love being able to include many unusual and interesting encounters. I love the way that Couchsurfing focuses on goodwill instead of money.

I love taking photos in beautiful or interesting places. I enjoy learning about history and what makes a place special, as well as looking at beautiful old buildings. I am vegetarian and love finding new foods to try.

I have recently finished In Patagonia by Bruce Chatwin. I love his descriptions of the endless, barren Patagonian landscape and the colourful characters that inhabit it.
Currently I am reading T.E Lawrence's Seven Pillars Of Wisdom, as I am fascinated by the Middle East.

Seeing Guernica in Madrid during my first ever solo adventure. I must have stood there for about 10 minutes just staring at it. It is definitely the most powerful piece of art I have ever seen and it utterly blew me away.
