Über mich
Hey, my name's Caitlin Saker and I'm a student. I'm part English, part Scottish and part Northern Irish so to save time I just say I'm British. =P
My first impression will probably tell you that I am shy and quiet, but if you get to know me, you will know that I am a happy, carefree and fun person, who can still consider other people and their own space.
In the past my family used to be a host family, with students from all over the world staying for weeks at a time, and that environment taught me how to be kind and considerate to people of all cultures, and that there is a big world out there to explore.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
Like most other people here, I love to travel and to experience different cultures. Unfortunately this requires money which, as a student, I do not have much of. I'd love to do walking expeditions sometime in the near future, and in anticipation of that, I've signed up for couchsurfing.
Sorry that I'm not accepting guests, but my house in Belfast is not mine - it's my mum's so as much as I would love to host couch surfers, it's out of the question until I find a place of my own.
Interessen
I like walking, exercising, reading, browsing the internet for hours on end, doing nothing for hours on end, cooking, learning languages, decorating rooms, demolishing sheds (don't ask) and having a nice cup of tea. <3

Musik, Filme und Bücher
Oh wow... my favourite music. Tough question. I like metal, I like rock, I also like rap, electro swing, dubstep, classical, jazz, ragtime, pop, trailer music, gaming music and film OSTs. So a little bit of everything. Honestly, I'm not that fussy when it comes to music, and I love hearing new stuff. I call it being a music sponge. :D
As for movies, my favourite one by far is Song of the Sea (or Le Chant de Mer in French). It's so beautiful and... oh my gosh, it's just perfect.
And as for books, well, I don't have a favourite. But I am reading the Lord of the Rings at the moment, and it is pretty good (still prefer the films though. Sorry, J. R. R. Tolkien.)
Does manga or comics count? Because I love Fullmetal Alchemist and Scott Pilgrim.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Well at the moment I am on my placement year in France! Yes, I have said goodbye to good ol' cornish pasties, and hello to daily baguettes! (Probably not good for my diet, but oh well.)
So yes, I am in another country, learning a language, by myself (although not really - I'm staying with a host family) and I'm only 23. And it isn't the first time I've done something like this. I went to the US with just my brother twice. Once when I was 16 and again when I was 18, for a week each time. Then in July 2013 I went to France for a month by myself and I loved it so much that I came back for my placement year.
So that may not sound amazing to you, but it is to me. =P
Lehren, lernen, teilen
I can do all of those things. Actually at the moment I teach English as a foreign language every Thursday night and I love it. It's only to a small group of people, but once I finish University I want to do it as a career. It's very fun. :)
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
I can help Hosts if they ever feel like learning English. I can also help with chores and cooking.
Don't really know what else to add here. =P
