ABOUT ME

I'm an incoming grad student in philosophy at Texas Tech. My current focus is in philosophy of mind, and I've done previous work on Nietzsche. I love being with friends, grabbing drinks, reading, going on adventures, trying new food, being perplexed by art, and having good conversation over coffee. I really like sci-fi movies and old kung fu flicks with bad dubbing.

I've been a teacher for the past five years, and I hope to eventually be a professor. I secretly want to write novels and poetry.

Still new here. Moving out to Texas at the end of July, so I won't be able to host until some time after the new place is setup and livable. However, I'd love to grab coffee with anyone in the meantime.

Literature: I have a lifelong project of reading the classics. I am particularly fond of ancient Greek literature (especially Homer, Sappho, and the tragedians) and Romanticism. I wish I knew more English poetry. Lately I've been reading various sci-fi books by Stanislaw Lem and Philip K. Dick. Thomas Pynchon is somewhere on my horizon.

Philosophy: My favorite historical philosophers are Hume, Spinoza, and Nietzsche. My current research is in philosophy of mind, particularly the work of Jerry Fodor and Daniel Dennett. Eventually I want to read Rorty.
