About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've found (in my admittedly limited experience) that the people and relationships in one's life are what really make it worth living. Of course I have my academic pursuits, but I believe our interpersonal connections are the stuff of life. (I realize this is not very surprising or profound, but I think we could all appreciate the people in our lives a bit more).

ABOUT ME

I'm currently a full-time student studying Neuroscience and Spanish. I will be applying for medical school in June. I love traveling, meeting new people, having 'scintillating, impassioned conversations', reading, appreciating beauty, playing with animals, dancing freely, eating chocolate, music, and actively pursuing knowledge. Also, I consider myself (and am considered by many others) to be a silly person. I tend to seek out people who are passionate, or at least have something interesting to say. I like people with a point of view.

PHILOSOPHY

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I learn by going where I have to go

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a student, I'm not in a position to be hosting, so I'm just surfing for now. However, in the future when I have more stability in my life, I would love to be a host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have couchsurfed in Montreal, Brussels, Québec City, and Barcelona. Each time was a truly wonderful experience. When time allows the host to spend time with the surfer(s), it makes for a more enriching travel (and life) experience since you get to explore a new place while making new friendships. :)

Interests

brains, books, bells, allure, assonance, alliteration, irony....

good poetry, Latin American literature, cats, orange juice, people with a dry sense of humor, laughing, music, dancing (poorly but unapologetically), cooking, impressionist paintings of places I've never visited, so on...

I'm just a big supporter of Elon Musk and Ina Garten in general.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once saved my dog's life. I've been to the top of the Peak in Hong Kong and it was beautiful. I smoked hash on the top of a waterfall in Dharamshala, India. I once walked to the middle of a field in the middle of a forest in the middle of the night to watch the stars. The people I was with had a gun because bears live close to the field and eat the blueberries from the bushes. It was so beautiful and I will never forget how it made me feel.

Also, I was in Buenos Aires during the 2014 World Cup!!! Watching the games on the pantalla gigante with thousands of Argentines was one of the best experiences of my life. Such excitement and energy.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about the different credos by which people live their lives around the world. I want to learn what is most important to others - what gives their lives meaning? I want to share my sources of happiness and comfort.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can speak English or Spanish with them! Though, I realize these are not very uncommon skills :). I love to learn, so I will be an eager listener to everything you show/tell me about your home. Learning about the history of the place I'm visiting is very important to me. I love to cook and would like to learn new local recipes!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belgium, Canada, China, England, France, Hong Kong, India, Singapore, Spain, Uruguay
