Overview
About Me
I'm a pretty sporty person, I love netball and AFL football, but am pretty much happy watching/trying to play any other sport as well.
I love reading, though I don't get to do as much of it during uni semester as I'm usually super busy.
I love Disney, Doctor Who, Stargate, Charmed, Parks and rec, Friends... I could go on, but you'd get bored. I also love movies, and am a big Harry Potter fan.
I also love to travel, though I'm sure that's true of most people on this website. So far I have been to Spain (Seville, Madrid, Granada and some smaller towns along the way), London and Paris. I've got a big trip planned around the US this year as well.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, and having heard some positive things about the experience of a friend of mine, I though couch surfing would be the best way to get some local knowledge and perspective on future trips. I like meeting new people and getting to know a place through the recommendations of someone who knows it well.

Music, Movies, and Books
Hamilton is a big deal for me at the moment (as it is for a lot of others), I like Disney and movie soundtracks. I like a bit of classical music, though I don't have extensive knowledge in the area, and I also like pop music.
Movies... I would say Steel Magnolias is one of my favourites, but I also enjoy Marvel, Star Wars, Harry Potter (though the books are 1000% better), Disney and Disney/Pixar. I also can't go past a trashy, but heart-warming romcom.
Books is hard to narrow down. I like historical fiction, so pretty much anything written by Phillipa Gregory. I'm also a fan of crime novels and am morbidly attracted to novels about dying people (The fault in our stars, before I die, Jodie Piccoult novels...). I like books that make you feel something - connected to the past, aware of your own mortality. I'll read pretty much anything though.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm not an overly exciting person. As part of my role at work, I used to organise the night drills for recruit firefighters. One night they ran a drill for the admin staff to get involved in and I got to go in the bronto (a 40m ladder platform) and put out a (controlled - but still burning) factory fire.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love linguistics, which I'm studying at university, so I can happily share/teach a lot about language. I also love studying sociolinguistics which is language in society so I love learning about different groups in the community and how they use language differently. And more generally, just what groups there are in a given community and what makes them unique/gives them their identity. I'm also a fan of history and what makes societies work the way they do/have done throughout the past. I'm pretty open minded about most things, and I try not to judge something until I've tried it.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you're interested I can teach you a lot about English and how it is used around the world. I can talk for hours about history, or about one of the many TV shows or movies that I've watched. I'm easy-going and love to learn so I can share the stories from my other travels as well.
