About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeking Sonoran Desert locals, who want to stomp around in a monsoon.

ABOUT ME

"I am a transplant to the American Southwest from New York City, who loves travel, who loves scrounging (furniture, food, opportunities) and who loves being frugal. All these I think will make me a good CouchSurfer. I am excited to become a member of the community."

That was written two years ago. Now I have re-transplanted, back to the East Coast, to the Philadelphia area, to be with family. Still seeking that CS community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am newish to CouchSurfing. I first came to consider it seriously when I moved into a wonderful house with 4 other roommates who were experienced CouchSurfers, and who had several times welcomed CouchSurfers into their home. There are many Post-It note testimonials on our refrigerator.

My first couchsurf was wonderful: I was driving across the country, trying to get home to PA for Thanksgiving, and I stayed with a wonderful woman in St. Louis, who had homemade pho (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pho) waiting for me, and candles lit in the guestroom. She was foremost in my thoughts around the Thanksgiving table that year.

Music, Movies, and Books

For CouchSurfing purposes: audiobooks, my own or rented from the truck stop--Tony Hillerman novels, autobiographies, travelogues, New Yorker short stories, Cormac McCarthy, The Road, F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, P.G. Wodehouse, Jeeves & Wooster. (Those last 3 should have been returned in Missouri.) MP3s of This American Life. MP3s of the Pimsleur course in Spanish. Easy to talk out loud in the car.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I guess I'll refer you to the two photos I put up of Cathedral in the Desert, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Arizona. I can tell you about it sometime if you like.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Latvia, Mexico, Sweden, United Kingdom
