About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Recently diagnosed with autism, I'm learning the whole human social experience thing. I'm not Rain Man, but social interactions are somewhat harder for me than for most people.

Emotions, feelings, non-verbal communication, social cues, long-lasting friendships, it's all a new world to me and I'm exploring it as much as I can (not that I've never had any of it, I just didn't understand most of it).

ABOUT ME

I love nonsense.

I love music, but I'm terrible at making music. I've tried piano and percussion for some time, but it didn't really work out. I'm also incapable of dancing, but that doesn't bother me at all.

I love open source programming and open hardware electronics.

I don't watch TV.

I have a hard time understanding social cues and non-verbal communication.

I have a cat and two chickens.

PHILOSOPHY

- Be excellent to each other
- There's no point in spending energy on hatred
- Don't waste time planning the past
- It takes three things to be happy in life: eat well, sleep well, and shit well.

- "Pensar faz mal" is a phrase in Portuguese that has been very important to me for a long time, and I was unable to translate it to any other language until recently. The English equivalent is "clear your mind".

More random thougths:
- There is very little benefit to drinking alcohol.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I host when I can, I surf when I travel =).

Interests

I love music above all (good and bad music, specially bad music)...
I love glitch art...
I love strong tasting beer...
I love walking (a lot, randomly, in supermarkets, across countries, anywhere...).
I love electronics, computer programming, and hacking stuff.
I love the technical aspects of any music-making thing and any picture-taking-movie-making thing.
I love useless things...
I like taking pictures of car plates, signs, and trash cans, not so much pictures of people. I love cheap cameras, my favourite is the Holga. Someday I'll 3d-print my own camera...
I travel mostly by hitch-hiking...
I like riding on city buses for a hobby (it's not sad, contrary to what Belle & Sebastian may say about it).

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Belle and Sebastian, Sonic Youth, Pink Floyd, lots of good music and lots of bad music. I love music.

Movies: Synecdoche, New York is the most fucked up piece of shit I've ever seen. It's my favourite movie. Besides that The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie is pretty awesome.

Series: I only learned about Adventure Time last year, and this is my favourite series. I don't know how I ever lived without Adventure Time. Besides that, I used to love South Park, but the quality has gone down so much that I prefer not to think about it.

Books: Walden. The Dharma Bums. My favourite book is Angústia by Graciliano Ramos. With that being said, I don't really read much. I just never got into the habit. It comes and goes in bursts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ayahuasca.

Also, hiking half-way across France.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have two conflicting types of interests.

The first is purely technical: I love electronics, computing, reverse-engineering, hacking stuff, building stuff out of junk, teaching and learning anything related to that...

The second is more recent and purely social: human relations and life struggles. If you talk about life struggles, you can talk to anyone. It's an universal subject. Everyone has something to teach, learn, and share.
