Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I snagged a few days of work in LA this August and want to see if this city is somewhere I could see myself setting up camp/building connections. It is rather expensive, so trying this route seems like a plan. Plus, I won't know anyone so having someone to explore with could be---perfect?
