À propos de moi

ABOUT ME

Such a nerd. Love history and travel books, staying up late talking over beers, dancing, drinking, eating, walking everywhere. Ecstatic about new places. Pretty much your average young Aussie keen as beans on seeing as much of the world, meeting as many people, and eating as much as I can.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Very new to using CS consistently, looking to get more experience surfing with great people overseas before I settle down to start hosting CSers to come and dance and eat and frolic.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS was an amazing tool to meet friends when I moved to Dublin by myself in November '12. CS led to midnight dumpster diving led to live music and beers led to the kind of friends that make all the difficult moments you get travelling alone absolutely worth it. Now while I am travelling through Europe I guess that anything leading to Italian rooftop wine sessions and fairytales and pizzas and almond milk coffee and olive groves and Greek salads and billy goats is always alright with me.

Centres d'intérêt

Need to always be getting to know somewhere different or getting better at some strange skill. Used to be learning chinese, now it's surfing. Biggest challenge so far has been moving to Singapore, completely underrated for what you can discover there. Learned the streets, made completely new friends, picked up more malay, mandarin, and singlish than I expected.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Anything that gets me dancing in my kitchen: vintage pop, jazz, and soul, rockin' blues, banging hip hop beats, dreamy acoustic guitar jams.

Listening at the moment: Nicolas Jaar, Kurt Vile, Le1f, Jeff Buckley, Killer Mike, DJ Koze

Books in the backpack have been picked up along the way, history books and biographies, classics like Hemingway and Flann O'Brien and E F Schumacher and Kerouac.

Fave films (haven't seen many lately): Children of Men, Dumb and Dumber, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Brazil, Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Into the Wild, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

1000km journey on motorcycles with new friends in Northern Vietnam, including getting stranded in the mountains and seeking refuge with a family of drunks during a midnight storm. Flying across a moonscape of bush in far Western Australia searching for waterfalls with a truck full of cheeky locals and the reggae playing loud.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

All about finding new music and books to read, so a serious session of tune swapping and wine drinking and book talking is always on the cards. I can also do some seriously silly dancing and talk a mean amount of nonsense, if that's your thing. All of this on top of eating delicious food, some of which I can cook and extend my knowledge, some of which I'll need to be chastised about how not to burn etc.

Pays que j'ai visités

Australia, France, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Pays dans lesquels j'ai vécu
