About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"They sing what and where they are."

ABOUT ME

Currently I'm serving in AmeriCorps NCCC. I spent my first round in Delaware working for the estuary research reserve there. My second round was spent in Maryland working for the Elkneck State Forest and then two weeks working at Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge in Maine completing six prescribed burns. My most recent project was in Pensacola, Florida responding to the oil spill by setting up Citizen Information Stations and organizing volunteers with recovery opportunities. I've been pretty stoked about my experiences thus far and look forward to new ones.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: classical, jazz, blues, folk, etc. etc. though playing is almost always better than listening, especially guitar and piano

Books: Ed Abbey, Jim Harrison, Norman Maclean Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, George Orwell, Slavoj Zizek

Movies: Synecdoche, NY, The Big Lebowski, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Science of Sleep, Before Sunrise/Sunset, Heima, Lars and the Real Girl

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It is too depressing to try to whittle a lifetime into one experience worth mentioning. It seems too impossible to compare and rate them. That said I have spent a few weeks in Arizona and the wide open spaces felt like taking a good, long drink of fresh water. My current adventures in AmeriCorps are surely too numerous to list here, which simply means great conversation material!
