About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Challenge myself, be love, and enjoy it all in the process
ABOUT ME
My name is Caleb Stumberg and I am from Helena, MT. I enjoy the beauty of the outdoors here in Montana and all that it has to offer, including backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and camping. Some of my biggest hobbies and I believe my greatest talents are in the arts. Writing, photography, and playing music take up more than half of my time and energy, and I love it! Then of all the things to add to the mix, I love studying, chatting, and debating topics of history and science, it fascinates me. And then last but not least I consider myself somewhat of a traveler or a wanderer. Seeing different places and cultures is such an amazing experience, offering education and so many friendships, I couldn´t stand living without it!
PHILOSOPHY
I beleive love is a powerful thing that is often misinterpreted by societies all over the world. It is not solely a feeling but hugely an action or a movement. Caring for the well being of others (in every aspect of life) above yourself is a huge part of what love should be like. This is why I live my life. To give love, see love, and take part in it. I really enjoy talking about this topic.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Every experience I have had with couch surfing, whether it was here in the states or in Europe has really been beneficial in so many ways. I gain relationships and experience someone's culture. I very much enjoy it. I definitely will continue to use couch surfing and try to give back to the community by hosting as much as I can!
Interests
Well as said before the arts will be the first to catch my eye. Whether it is photography, painting, writing, or music, I could spend hours on end doing art, chatting about art, or just merely staring at it. The emotions that come alongside every piece of art are where I often draw my inspiration and creativity for my music, my writing, and my photography.
Talk of history, culture, and philosophy fascinates me and I could also do it for hours. The ideal place for this in my opinion would be at a local espresso shop or bar, library or park, of which I spend much of my time at. Which brings me to my next interest which is reading. I love the classics, modern fiction, historical fiction and non-fiction. Most days I spend at least an hour at a coffee bar reading; I look forward to this everyday.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One summer I had the opportunity to travel to British Columbia where I took a week long backpacking trip into mountains far up the coast from Vancouver. With just the contents in my backpack, my group and I started at sea level and summated a 7500ft peak. Learning to repel off cliffs, use ice axes, and rope team over glaciers, I had more than an awesome time. At the top when looking out onto all the other snow covered peaks, I just stood in silence because of the beauty.
Another summer I took a trip to the West coast of the United States. Traveling by myself, I had the time to take up surfing and take as many days as I needed to learn. After days and days of painful wave beating surfing, I finally could stand up and catch waves. When a massive wave is generating its daunting size behind you, you speedily began to swim in the opposite direction, and then at the perfect moment you hop to your feet; your board begins to slice through the water as you cruise down the wave, with air rushing in your face, and then you know that the feeling being built inside of you, is like none other.
