About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A little tour of the middle east and europe. I was supposed to be in Iran but was deported, I'll tell you all about it in return for a couch?

ABOUT ME

When most people hear of travel destinations, they say: "I'd love to go there"
I want to find the places that make people say "where the hell is that!?" or "Why would you ever go there!?"

I've found that these rural towns and unknown passes offer some of the greatest stories and nicest people. Just as importantly, whenever swapping stories at a bar, you're more likely to best the conversation of adventure.

After highschool I drove from England to Mongolia. I'm entering my 4th year of engineering at Queen's University, Canada. I spent the last year balancing my time between skiing in Fernie and interning as a blasting engineer at a coal mine. Studying engineering can be the worst 4 years of your life or the best 6. I obviously chose the latter and haven't looked back since. I can't necesasarily tell you what I've learned at school but I can definitely tell you a story or two. I'd much rather hear your's though as it inspires me to start planning my next trip (usually before the current one ends).

PHILOSOPHY

I hate being afraid or uncomfortable, so I try to immerse myself in these situations as much as possible.
For example, my fear of heights meant a skydiving trip was a must.
Also, people are nice by nature but animals by instinct. So regardless of where you go, you'll probably be alright.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm away at university but my parents are nice enought to keep a room for me for when I return. Luckily this means that you not only get a full room but also parents to look after you if need be.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Only good ones but then again, I've only surfed with friends. In my first year of university, at least 30% of my time was spent in other people's living rooms, floors, or spare couches.

The Little Prince.
Animal Farm.
Fight Club (the book but the movie was great too).
Freakonomics.
Born To Run.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing on a frozen arctic ocean during the Winter equinox, having just delivered a Christmas tree to the most Northern point in mainland Canada.

Teach, Learn, Share

Through my travels I have been able to pick up a few quirks that make traveling better, from scaring away a hungry pack of dogs in Central, to cooking mystery meat on the radiator, I'm sure some of these skills must be transferable to someone!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Iran, Jamaica, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Mongolia, Russian Federation, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Kingdom, United States, Uzbekistan
