ABOUT ME

We are a family. A married couple, Calvin and Bernice, a.k.a. Nice, with 7 children. If we're around we would be happy to host you in New Hampshire. The kids will love to meet you. I (Calvin) own and work in an auto repair shop. Nice is a stay at home mom to our children. We have settled into being full time parents to the children we love and enjoy biking, hiking, swimming, camping, skiing, making food and doing projects and games with our children.

We enjoy talking to people. We hope to see some more of the US and a few other countries. We are both from large extended families and are happy to be able to share with others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I (Calvin) stayed with Couchsurfers, family and friends around the USA and in some other countries, it has always been a good experience. I Couchsurfed some of Hotrod Powertour 07 making an awesome trip! Hosted some family and friends while living in NH and 5 Ron Paul campaign supporters indirectly through CS. Traveled extensively in 2008 and enjoyed host's all over the world. Now as a family we don't surf since few members can handle a large family but we still travel. We are here to host when we can.

Nice has traveled europe visiting friends.

Interests

Hiking, walking, exercise, skiing, Christianity and living clean, Learning Swedish, SCUBA diving, Saunas, Automotive anything, Learning whatever you have to teach us, camping, visiting and enjoying others company.

Music, Movies, and Books

We have internet for you but no tv. Used to listen to talk radio until it all turned to global warming, scary news and wars. Sometimes we listen to gospel music. Calvin reads self improvement books, technical automotive stuff, magazines and newspapers, other books like 1984 and Atlas Shrugged. Nice likes romance books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bernice and I love being married and living in New Hampshire. We've adopted 3 foster children and have 4 biological children. Hiked the local Wapack Trail in one day, 21 miles, 8 mountains, 6,000 ft of elevation up and down in 9.5 hrs. In 2008 I rode a rented 250cc Yamaha motorcycle in India from Nagggar up to Leh and then around in Jammu Kashmir, it was very scenic.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I (Calvin) know about cars and automotive repair, motorcycles and a little about European Lutheranism. Nice knows a lot about cooking and baking, nursing/health, childcare and child development. Nice grew up in Finland and is familiar with traveling by boat around on the archipelago of Larsmo

Learn: I want to learn about more cars, fitness, Swedish language, natural cures and nutrition, maybe someday if I have nothing else to do I would like to be able to play a piano, although I am very unmusical.

Share: If I'm hosting we could do a local hike together on Mt. Monadnock or Mt. Watatic as a smaller option. I have a private family beach on Pratt pond and we're familiar with all the local beaches on the small lakes in the area. There are nice hiking trails in the woods behind our home. We have some tick/ lyme problem spring to mid summer in NH so we have some spray to keep the ticks away if going into the woods. Lyme can ruin your life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We live in a large new house that I'm still working on, you can sleep in the beds in a partly finished play room in the basement. Some of the older references are of the trailer (mobile home) we used to live in but we now live in a better home.
We will have clean bedding for you and you're welcome to use the kitchen and laundry.
Don't be shy, if you need an airport pickup or anything just ask. We like to help people travel.
If you have something mechanical broken I can probably fix it. Definitely if it has wheels.
