About Me

CURRENT MISSION

May your roads be winding, and your adventures infinite!!

ABOUT ME

I am very adventurous, outgoing, fun-loving, open-minded person who is always ready for exciting new experiences. I love climbing, music, reading, and laughing... and pretty much any excuse to be outside!!

Now I live in Germany with my husband (he's German - just married) and I teach English!

Here's a little about me history: Before I "settled down" (that will never *actually* happen), I worked as an outdoor adventure guide at my university -kayaking, backpacking, climbing etc. I studied a big mix of subjects at Uni but my degree is in World Literature- I love books! After uni, I hit the road and spent 2 years working at a ski resort in winter and camping/climbing/hiking all summer.

When I met Max, we shared a passion for music, travel, hockey, and adventure... so we built a bed in the back of our car and went on an epic 5 month road-trip to all 4 "corners" of the USA and many places in between: 20,000km traveled, infinite number of people met, adventures had, and memories made!!! :)

Now we are traveling extensively on our honeymoon/sabbatical/world tour. What an adventure... :)

If you head my way, I'd love to share a new adventure with you!! :)

PHILOSOPHY

Love, Learn, Live, Laugh... that's all a person needs to enjoy this world. Cheesy, yes. True, also yes.

"The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."
- Alexander Supertramp :)
I couldn't agree more...

I can say, I think that every highschool/college kid should go abroad because life outside of one that you're used to, is a better learning experience than any class you could ever take....
***I've learned more from a moment spent with a stranger on a train, an old man's story, an afternoon spent observing the hustle and bustle of a particular village square- than in a lifetime of schooling.***

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been on this site since nearly the beginning.
It was my first means of traveling through Europe (10+ years ago!?)

I'm not as active as I once was, but I still try to contribute anyway I can:
I spread the CS word to EVERYONE I meet in my travels!
and I try to host as often as I can, or at least give people any advice I have about places to see and things to do!!! I'll lend a hand to any fellow traveler :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far now I've surfed many couches, and met lots of CS'ers... and I've hosted a few people and showed them my city and some fun, not-so-typical things to do and see, but I'd still like to do and see more.... I love it!!!!

Interests

I am a true thrill seeker! I love traveling and immersing myself in a new culture. I LOVE all sports and other outdoor activities. My favorites are Rock Climbing! Snowboarding, Kayaking, Scuba Diving, Hiking, Hockey, Soccer, Surfing, Beach Volleyball, Golf, Football, etc.

I am sooo passionate about Music both playing and listening. It's really a huge part of my life. I sing and play piano and my favorite types of music are Blues, Classic Rock, and Jazz but I'll listen to pretty much anything.

I like to cook, have a good time, learn, live, and laugh!!!!

If I were an animal, I would be a dog - always happy, ready to explore, and overly enthusiastic about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I like comedy classics, and exciting movies best; movies that make me, laugh, cry, jump, or think....the only things I don't much care for are super mushy chick flicks haha.

As I said, I LOVE music, and it is a huge part of my life! Classic Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul..... Love it!!!
*Sometimes I sing in front of other people, I'm in a few bands ;)

I received my degree in World Literature because I like to read and my goal for the next few years of my life is to Teach English abroad!!! Herman Hesse is my favorite author but I love Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Nietzsche, Camus, Sartre, Dostoevsky, Jack London, Chuck Palahniuk, Steinbeck, Ken Kesey, Jack Kerouac, Christopher Moore, Emily Dickenson, Robert Frost, T. S. Eliot, Wilfred Owen, Walt Whitman.... the list could go on for days... :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

*Backpacking 3 months through Europe by myself
*Canyoning in Interlaken, Switzerland.

Through it all, the good and the bad, I've had a freakin blast. I love Life!!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I think this is an awesome idea... I could definitely share music with people (real American music like jazz and blues).

What to try an adventure sport!? Maybe I can help!!
I've also lived a really intense life, jam-packed full of adventures good and bad... haha, I have a lot of stories, and I hope I can meet people who have some stories too!!!!!!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have a lot of stories: funny, adventurous, etc. I've also lived a lot of different lifestyles - I like to share laughter and experiences with new people. I hope others might do the same for me :)
