About Me

Hey there! I'm Callum and here's a lil' bit about me

I'm a 22 year old Scottish/American/German fella who was born and raised in China until a few years ago. At the moment I work as a health care assistant at an Elderly care home in rural Germany. In my free time I play in 2 bands in the city of Karlsruhe, mainly in the direction of Indie/Alternative rock. I also very much enjoy reading, playing hockey, basketball, hiking, filmmaking and even knitting haha.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm mainly on couch surfing to meet people in new cities. As I find that it can be super damn hard to meet new folks when travelling solo and I reckon that couch surfing really helps with that. So I'm really hoping to meet people who I would otherwise never meet during solo travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Hard to say but favorite music would have to be along the lines of Alternative/indie rock (Smashing Pumpkins, Pixies, The Smiths) Jazz (Oscar Peterson, Wes Montgomery, Billie Holiday), Folk (Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Nick Drake) and RnB music (Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin)

Favorite movies would be: "The 400 blows", "Ratatouille" , any Charlie Brown movie, "Do the right thing", "Back to the future"

Favorite books would be: "A Confederacy of Dunces" by John Kennedy Toole and "Hard boiled wonderland and the End of the World" by Haruki Murakami

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working as a carny at a Chinese amusement park from the ages of 5-12

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely teach someone how to play the guitar, banjo or harmonica. Also very basic sentences/swear words in Chinese.

What I Can Share with Hosts

"not to toot my own horn" as they say, but I can in fact play quite a few instruments. So the most I can offer is a pretty damn good jamming session.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherlands, Scotland, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
