About Me
Hi and thanks for reading my page
I'm an Aussie that's just spent the winter living, working as a barista and snowboarding in BC (I know, I'm a cliche). I had great plans of being a dirt bag climber all summer in the mountains but got a shoulder injury and had surgery I'm still recovering from in the spring.
My new and improved plan has me on a great American road trip that's taking me down the Rockies, across the South and up the East coast hoping to take in as much of this beautiful country as I can. I've been loving all the national parks so far, especially Glacier which was just spectacular hiking.
Couchsurfing is new to me - I've had the profile for a little while but haven't actively used it. I do love the idea and can't wait to pay it forward in my own way once I'm back home in Australia.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My van has been my home for the trip and I've had great luck finding wonderful free camp sites on BLM or National Forest land but I'd like to use Couchsurfing to get to know more people along the way and a better insight into the cities and towns I'm visiting.
As I'm coming into the southern states where it's hot at night I would love somewhere a cooler to sleep. Where that's not possible meeting up for coffee, a beer or a hike would be great time and help me get to know the community.
Interests
I love hiking, sharing a beer and laughs with new friends, rock climbing and snowboarding. Last winter I was in Canada snowboarding every day until I separated my shoulder which has put some of my summer climbing plans on hold.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books:
Some of my favourites have been The Alchemist, of mice and men, Fahrenheit 451, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, Harry Potter, Last Chance to See and the Hitchhiker's Guide by Douglas Adams.
More recently I've been reading Haruki Murakami and Donna Tart, loving both of their work. When Breath Becomes Air made me cry. I thought Shantaram was great, although I grew tired of the overly poetic writing by the end.
Movies: Pretty much anything directed by Chris Nolan or Tarantino.
Podcasts: I've been diving into podcasts a lot on the road. Some favourites are: Radiolab, S Town, this American Life, Tim Ferriss Show, Joe Rogan (sometimes), Invisibilia, Savage Lovecast, Planet Money, This Is About.
Music: Changes all the time depending on my mood and what I'm doing from classical and jazz through to indie pop, rock and electro
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Visited Antarctica
What I Can Share with Hosts
My love for good food and alcohol while sharing stories. I've also got plenty of travel tips for Cuba, South America, Asia and Australia if anyone wants to pick my brain about that.
I'm very easygoing and spending 2 years backpacking in and out of Hostels has made me learn how to get a long and have a great time with pretty much anyone.
