About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep traveling till I find what I´m looking for... I hope never to find it!

ABOUT ME

I have always had an interest in the different landscape and cultures of the world and seem to get the most satisfaction in experiencing them first hand. I have been fortunate enough to do a fair bit of traveling but still feel like i´ve only seen the tip of the iceberg, i´ll just have to do a whole lot more!

PHILOSOPHY

I just hope to keep experiencing the things I want to and learning from those without it being at the expense of anyone else.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

From my earliest travels I have always endeavoured to share my experiences and namely provide any helpfull tips I think can make someone elses trip that little bit better. I have always worked in tourism and knowing from my own experience how a friendly and helpfull local can help make your trip that much better I have always been enthusiastic to help or entertain a traveler.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I remember when I first arrived in Whistler, Canada I had ideas of landing a job and a place to stay in the first week. Problem was 5,000 others were thinking the same with only room for about 2,000. Despite the obvious competition everyone who was in the same boat did as much as possible to help each other, wether it was housing 10 people in a 2 bed apartment, sharing knowledge of any possible jobs on the go or just buying your broke mate a beer no one hesitated to look out for their fellow traveller. It generally worked out in the end for everyone.

Interests

Travelling, an obvious choice.
I am a fanatic of movies, I always have been and it doesn´t matter where they´re from or what genre they fit. It´s a passion that will never die.
I have just started to read again and realise it was something I had neglected for far too long.
I also love sport and can´t wait for my next snowboarding trip, it´s been too long.

Music, Movies, and Books

The list of movies is endless so will just mention a few... City of God, Amelie, Pan´s Labarynth, The Departed, the Godfather series, Old Boy, A Clockwork Orange, Requim for a Dream, Y Tu Mama Tambien.....
The last few books I have read have been great, Marching Powder is just crazy! In saying that so is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I´ve read Love in the time of Cholera and am now nearly finished with 100 Years of Solitude, Gael Garcia Marquez´s writing is beautiful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There´s been a few but definitely the most amazing things I´ve seen have been in Africa. I had the thrilling but downright scary experience of witnessing a heavily armed hijacking of a payroll car on the road between Nyanga and Harare in Zimbabwe, it happened in traffic right in front of our car and while guns were flailing I couldn´t look away.
Between this and the beautiful landscape and wildlife Africa will always hold strong in my memory.
