About Me

Born in the north of England and raised in the even-further-north of Canada. I'm exploring the world for a year with my entire life unceremoniously stuffed into a backpack. A friend recommended CouchSurfing as a way to meet awesome decent people all over the globe, so here I am!

I graduated university two years ago, lived and worked on the Canadian west coast, then decided to put my dual citizenship to good use and travel through Europe on my British passport before Brexit complicates everything.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet locals who are c̶r̶a̶z̶y̶ cool enough to share their space with travellers. I love building long-lasting friendships with people who don't ax murder me in my sleep.

I'm also hoping to grab advice for any nearby trails as I'm a big hiker.

Still very much a CS-newbie so I apologize for my scarce "Friends" and "References". Please don't hold it against me!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm slightly obsessed with Radiohead right now but I like listening to a variety: Queens of the Stone Age, David Bowie, Supertramp, John Legend, Childish Gambino, old-school motown and soul. The list goes on ...

I've loved all of Christopher Nolan's films though I think Memento is his best. Quentin Tarantino is always good, Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained especially. Some other favourites: Snatch, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Alien, It's a Wonderful Life, Saving Private Ryan

The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion top my book list, George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series is great but depressingly incomplete, and The Name of the Wind (and it's sequel) by Patrick Rothfuss I really liked. Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories are classics, and lately I've been reading Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked the Grouse Grind, Goat Mountain, and Goat Ridge all in one day. A brutal combination of mountain trails in British Columbia, Canada.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you with your English if you're looking for practice!

I'd love to learn more of your language, and which hand signs will get me in trouble in public. If you know any good card games please share them!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My stir-fry recipe, the one dish I do well!

Or if you have a piano you can choose to be serenaded from a wide selection of the four songs I know how to play.

Ask me anything about Canada!
