About Me

I love meeting new people and getting lost in strange places. I prefer visiting fewer places for longer. I am not interested where the tourists go, but instead I prefer to meet the people that call a place home. I love the outdoors and have a passion for the environment.

My hobbies include rock climbing, jujitsu, surfing and hiking. I started a kombucha brewery in South Africa after learning how to brew while living in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I once converted a 1968 VW kombi into a mobile craft beer bar.

I am kind, considerate, and very neat. I will entertain you with funny stories and peculiar South Africa slang

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet the people that call a place home. I prefer to learn about a new country through the people that live their instead of through an app or a travel guide.

I love meeting new people and the life-long friendship that comes with shared experiences. When you stay with locals you see so much more than the pretty pictures of exotic travels.

Staying with strangers for me also becomes a great learning experience as I have to get out of my comfort zone and immerse myself in another persons world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite books include: Sapiens, laws of human nature, wayfinders, Ishmael, the obstacle is the way, zen and the art of motor cycle maintenance, a new earth, be here now, and many many more.

Favorite music: alt J, phantogram, cage the elephant, oasis, the libertines, petite biscuit, flume, bonobo, chet faker.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit my job to intern on an organic farm in costa rica, learned to brew kombucha and then used that skill to travel central america, bartering that skill for free accommodation and surf boards. Started a brewery and traveled the country in a renovated 1968 VW kombi selling craft beer at festivals across the country.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach people about fermenting foods, jujitsu and rock climbing. Learning to say yes to new adventures and how to overcome fear.
