Overview
About Me
Hi! My name's Calvin & I've grown up in a few different places around the Midwest. I recently graduated from Northern Michigan University & I'm looking to transition to a new city to continue learning & get more involved in what I love doing.
I'm passionate about art, photography, music, & new ideas. I spend much of my free time reading and learning about new art and music, being outside near Lake Superior, or attending concerts, galleries, or working on projects.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've hosted & travelled before, & I'm currently looking for amiable hosts to help me relocate to Austin, TX while I look to get settled in. Austin seems like a place with a vibrant community and a lot of opportunities for inspiration and collaboration.
Interests
Photography, audiovisual production, printing, art & design, and travel. I'm really passionate about media and art, and I love to discuss ideas behind music and art.

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite music recently has been Warpaint, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Yuck, and Angel Olsen. Old standbys are Radiohead, Pinback, Tortoise, Stereolab, Hall & Oates, & many, many others
Some of my favorite authors are Susan Sontag, Douglas Coupland, Anais Nin, Sam Pink, and Henry Miller. I like reading Wired, Hi-Fructose, and independent art, fashion, and photography zines that I pick up.
Birdman, Chef, and Boyhood were amazing. I don't watch enough movies but those were some recent greats.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One time when I was a kid I threw a large rock into a lake and out splashed a bluegill. That was pretty cool.
I've been to the Grand Canyon, the Arctic Circle, and The Eiffel Tower.
Touring in a band was one of the most stressful, smelly, and grueling experiences I've had, but also one of the most fun.
I was a volunteer camp councilor at a disability camp for two summers.
What I Can Share with Hosts
