We are alive at the same time!
What are the odds??
Maybe it’s purely random and meaningless,
But something about it feels special to me.

I have surfed couches a handful of times and each time I have met friendly, open people - at least one of whom is still a friend. I’m looking forward to hosting for other travelers when I have the ability.

I think platforms like this that connect people and generate community will only become more and more valuable and precious over the coming years.

I also feel this strongly about work-exchanges and volunteer programs. If you are considering it, I’d like to encourage you to see what’s out there! It’s another way I’ve met genuine, interesting, community-oriented people, and learned skills.

Speaking of…

I’m joining a group of people in Italy this summer to renovate an old hotel in the Appenine Mountains, west of Bologna.

It will be my first time in Italy! And although I don’t speak any Italian yet ( … ) I’m excited! And am starting to learn the language.

I travel to Rome on June 5th and hope to stay for a few days before continuing to Bologna, which I would love to experience too.

By mid June I will make my way to the town where I’ll be spending the summer.

I lived mostly in New York City the past 12 years — some seasons in other places around the United States (California, Appalachia, New England). But I feel most at home when I am outside, with Nature. As much as I love pieces of it, I don’t think I’ll be moving back to NYC soon.
I’ve worked many different jobs, and was mostly a cook for the past few years. I moved to Tirana, Albania to work for a tech startup company at the beginning of March but it was not a good fit for me.
I worked as a cook at a retreat center in upstate New York for the month of May, and will next be in Italy for the summer!
