About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to take over the world

ABOUT ME

The world is a confusing place- the fact that I'm in it- even more bewildering; I still haven't found the user manual... I begin to suspect there isn't one.

Though, despite all that, I like to put my time and effort into many things that might give life some semblence of meaning; especially those kinds of tasks which garner a sense of independance and self reliance in me- I want to know how to grow my own food, treat myself when I'm sick, build my own house and bake my own bread. It seems to me, that for so much of my life my independance was slipped, little by little, into the pockets of sly entrepenuers and corporations; so they could sell it back to me for so many dollars. To me there seems no better time spent than in learning to take care of one's self and community.

As far as relaxing and killing time goes... I enjoy a good beer and good conversation (preferably these things are shared around a fire)-- or simply sitting and pondering, letting the world and my thoughts wash away the stress and effort of the day.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that life and existence are far to boundless and amazing for me to sum up my thoughts, fears, hopes and curiosities which pertain to them here on this web page.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Several of the houses I used to live at in Olympia, WA hosted a good deal of couchsurfers during my time in them. I've also been hosted a good bit myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Both hosting and being hosted, I've found, can be either stressfull or rewarding- or both. Sometimes your couchsurfers are slobs, and when they leave they steal the one good can-opener. Other times I've really clicked with people and made good friends- the kind you can stay up late around a fire with sharing booze and swapping stories.

Interests

Oh goodness... interests? It's hard to make a list when everything is so interesting...
to name a few though, I like to spend my time gardening, sewing (both in repair and fabrication), dabbling in taxidermy, I've brewed a few wines, I like to write some words in my journal or a letter every so often, chopping firewood is a good way to pass the time, I enjoy a good hike and do a little rock climbing every now and then... I'm sure there's more, but this could be a long list...

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies- are good. Though, it seems, over the past year I've had a difficult time making in all the way through one without falling asleep.

Music- Is a great and gracious thing which I enjoy eclectically. Everything from traditional folk and blues to hardcore and metal.

Books- Watership Down, read it, and you'll never thing of rabbits the same way again.

Also, cracked open a Steinbeck novel for the first time recently, that guy could write!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a good bit about botany, gardening and herbalism. I could show you how to skin a possum. I could prattle on about existentialism and the dialectics. I'm also and expert in simple addition and subtraction. I could teach you how to give yourself a tattoo with the most rudimentary equipment.

And if anyone out there in the big wide internet has a bangin' rice pudding recipe, I'd love to hear it.
