ABOUT ME

Tall, long hair for getting dirty, blue green eyes all the better to see you with, big roman nose to smell all the best and worst odours in the world, a mouth to play trumpet, beatbox and rap with, eyebrows to look at you quizically with, two hands to write poorly and muck around on computers, two legs to ride bikes and two feet to trek the world, a stomach to hold lots of tasty food, and then the rest of me that tries to follow and join in.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CS and HC has turned upside down my ideas of travelling and has revitalised me after becoming jaded and cynical about hostels and the idea of traveller culture. In eastern europe it meant actually learning real cultural and historical info about the countries i was lucky enough to visit, plus big parties at night to boot. In Russia it meant seeing the russian reggae king in an underground bar. Here in china it means having a friendship group that extends beyond the local bar scene to places all over the great red motherland, and having layabout hippies come around to stay reminding me that i might be getting too rooted here.

Interests

Main interest is listening to and making music, trying to pick up influences from all the countries i visit as it makes for good memories; people and the things they do, why they do them and what it's all about; spirituality and meditation; languages; psychology; the Art of Living; sociology; anthropology; religion though i'm not religious; seeing more nature than i currently do; mongolia; picking up the pieces to make something new; vegetarianism and all things foodie; eyeball kicks then building on what you can't see.

Music, Movies, and Books

much music to list, but lots of hip hop electronic ambient circus crazy beats dnb IDM computer game music random traditional and banjos post rock experimental celtic music coz it brings the house down and touches the heart tuvan music gypsy sounds and all the notes in between. Love talking about music, so come and join me!
Films i like things that tend to the underground and strange, drug influenced side, with the occasional kung-fu or trash horror in there just for kicks.
Books muchly, but have trouble finding time to read these days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to listen. Your story is teaching enough and everyone's tale is a new lesson. If you pack a music making implement i'd love to learn your secrets, and would be happy to share the few i've gathered over time. I can play the trumpet, can beatbox (spittle beware), am learning the flute and the hulusi, and like to fiddle with knobs on computer screens, all of which i'm happy to teach you so far as i can.

I'm on a quest to find better ways to travel, better means to engage personally with whatever culture you're in. What do you do?

I love food and cooking and want to learn more about it.

I'm always up for french conversation, pour que je n'oublie pas tout ce que j'ai appris. Alot of people seem to be interested in learning french aswell, so i'm keen to help.
