About Me
Hi!
My name is Violette, I'm from France but I am currently studying in Switzerland :) More precisely I am pursuing a Masters in Asian studies, and currently researching and writing my thesis on the Japanese Self-Defense Forces :)
Last year I was on an exchange program, and I spent 6 months in Japan, 4 months in South Korea and 2 months in Hong Kong, and I have anecdotes and stories if you wanna hear it over a good cup of tea (you can't come back from these countries and not adore tea).
Other than that, I've also spent a year in France learning how to manage a solidarity project with a group of 20 people, and had the chance to go to the Togo in Africa in the end :) So yeah, my resume is a bit messy but I can't help it, I am curious and I think life's too short to not try whatever feels like it could be for you.
I love photography (even though I need to buy a new camera), editing videos and using softwares such as Illustrator, I love music (I can play flute, learning harmonica) and I love debates about life, philosophy and how we can become better human beings (sorry, I'm French PLUS I lived in Buddhist countries). Also, I'm interested in starting a plant-based diet or at least vegetarian so if you are one yourself, that's even better :)
Looking forward to meet you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I first heard of Couchsurfing in Japan, a lot of my friends did it while abroad because it's the "best way to experience the life with the local people". Even though I love the concept of the guest-house, I still want to try the couchsurfing, and see if it's really as nice as I was told.
And even though I cannot welcome anyone at my home since I am in Switzerland living in a dorm, if I ever own a place I'll shift my profile to host as well :)
Interests
I have a great interest in relations between Asian coutries, especially between South Korea, China and Japan, historical relations as well as economic and diplomatic relations.
Apart from that, I love fashion (creating my own clothes when I have the time, the will and the money), movies, all kind of music and books.
And I sometimes watch random documentary movies on Youtube about different stuff. Last time it was about Usain Bolt, who knows what is gonna be next?

Music, Movies, and Books
That question is really hard. But if I had to choose, my favorite music of the moment is a song from Ikue Asazaki "Obokuri Eeumi" that was featured in the very good anime "Samurai Champloo", my favourite movie of the moment is a Korean movie called "the Man from Nowhere" with a lot of action and blood but still really beautiful, and my favourite book would be... "Chronique japonaise" from the author Nicolas Bouvier whom I admire a lot.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've hitch-hiked in Japan with a former yakuza, and it was great :)
Teach, Learn, Share
Same, I don't really know what I should write in the part "Teach, Learn, Share" so I will just share a citation I like from Gandhi which you might learn if you don't know it already, and so you'll have to admit that I taught you that, and the Teach Learn and Share part is done!
"You must be the change you want to see in the world".
What I Can Share with Hosts
I want to share funnies and instructives stories about our life, just enjoy a good meal all together and be helpful to each other.
