Overview
About Me
I recently moved to Queensland, Australia to start a PhD researching the genetics of spiny lobsters. I live for adventure, and there's no better adventure than travelling, seeing new places and meeting new people.
I was born in the South of England and grew up the countryside in Scotland, with not a whole lot of people around. Wherever I go, I'm always looking for outdoor adventures and a chance to really see the world.
I'm 24 years old, a pretty easy going fella who finds most things interesting. I like saying yes, so I'm game for just about anything.
My greatest mantra is that if you are going to do something, do it well! Half-measures will only be regretted.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've hosted a few people with my flatmate and I think it's a great way to get around without breaking the bank... while making some new pals along the way. I'd be keen to try surfing wherever I end up next!
Interests
Almost anything outdoors, especially if there is water involved. Fishing, diving, hiking and camping top the list. I also play a bit of guitar and am a keen chef with an aptitude for pizzas and bread! I get a lot of satisfaction from making things, so you'll often find me fiddling around with screws, bolts and sawdust.
Music, Movies, and Books
I like a lot of Music. Some jazz/funk and electroswing. Some indie folk/country kinda stuff. I'm also a bit of a metalhead but at the moment I'm trying to get into a little southern country blues.
I like movies that are memorable. Not crazy about action/marvel type movies which are basically all the same. Old Matt Damon movies are some of the best. I just watched trainspotting for the first time ever so people will believe I'm Scottish.
I own four books that have been half-read for over a year. They're all non-fiction, and usually have some adventurous twist to them like The Voyages of Captain Scott. I should probably read more, and if I had the time I would.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Ran 50km across a subtropical island, because getting a tour bus was just too lame!
Teach, Learn, Share
Cooking skills are probably the most useful thing I can offer!
Or maybe fixing things, I guess that's helpful too.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A few tales and a cold brew!
If you surrender your kitchen to me, I can make one badass pizza.
Or two, if you're still hungry.
