I am a current AmeriCorps member serving in California and "livin' the dream". I'm on the West Coast now, but I've lived/worked/or gone to school in New Hampshire, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and Massachusetts. You can guess which matches with which when we meet! I graduated with a B.A. in music performance so talking about music is a great conversation starter. I'll be here for a year and would love to see as much of California as I can while I have the freedom to travel!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Budgeting as an AmeriCorps member can be tight so CouchSurfing seems like a great place to start. I also love spontaneous trips and meeting new people!

Interests

I am a huge Opera fan and I love going to shows whenever I can. I am also an animal lover (possibly on the verge of being an animal nerd...mostly when it comes to dogs) and get a little too much joy out of watching shows like the Westminster Dog Show . I am passionate about animal training and especially love puppy raising and training future service dogs (I posted a picture of the most recent puppy I've trained). YouTube videos on service dogs/guide dogs tend to find their way on to my search history. I also love rowing and enjoy racing in and attending rowing Regattas. Head of the Charles has to be one of the coolest!

Music, Movies, and Books

Opera is probably my favorite music genre with La Traviata, Carmen, Le Nozze di Figaro , and la Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein being at the top of the list. I am also a huge Beatles fan. Favorite movies tend to be in the romantic comedy section with some favorites being 500 Days of Summer, About Time, Benny and Joon, Silver Linings Playbook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I traveled in Perú for 3 months with my mom and brother. It was an incredible experience and I hope I have the chance to travel there again! I also did a backpacking trip through Europe for a few months after studying abroad in London a few years ago--an equally rewarding experience!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am mostly quiet, but energetic and talkative once I get to know someone. I have a light and fun personality and I am always up for a good laugh. I can live with almost anyone and I enjoy traveling in groups or going out on my own. I am also very clean and organized and make sure to keep to my own space.
