About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Writing songs! Getting more consistent at vipassana meditation, travelling, finding somewhere to call home momentarily

ABOUT ME

I'm 19, and from Charlotte, North Carolina where I grew up in sickeningly sweet suburbia. I've been traveling for the past 3 years and don't really have plans for stopping any time soon.
I'm currently traveling with a mandolin and a violin (learning the latter quite slowly) and I am island hopping through the Caribbean for the time.
I sailed around the Atlantic for about a year, and then hitchhiked coast to coast in Canada, while it was still warm. Took off to Panama and was hitchhiking around Costa Rica and Panama with very little money, living daily life and busking off daily expenditures. I would prefer to not take any flights anywhere anymore... hitchhiking has humbled and shown me with a little patience you can get literally anywhere. After Panama I hitchhiked back to North Carolina through Central America and then traveled the states and Canada for the spring. Summer in Nova Scotia, and the winter in the Grenadines, both places working on ships. I have traveled indulging in all the tourist things, and found I don't really enjoy that... It's much better to find out what the locals actually enjoy or do, not some show they have put on for foreigners to see..
I really want to work on a farm sooner or later, and find a permanent situation where I can live off my guitar or sailing. looking for a band, nothing is better than collaboration, and it's time to make some music.

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem, and get the hell out of bed to play some music, cook some food, and meet some people. If you put yourself out there with clear intentions, the whole world conspires to help you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I have my own house or boat or shanty villa it'll be open to however many people we can line the floors with, but for the time being I just surf, either to meet people for coffee or to get the local insight, or crash on couches which is a lot of fun, especially to live with someone new even for a few days.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a bunch of couchsurfing experiences, all were wonderful times! From Canada to Costa Rica to the States, only ever met the nicest people.
I also have tons of off-the-grid couchsurfing experience, I.E. hitchhiking and ending up crashing with hundreds of lovely people that open up their home to me.

Interests

I love playing guitar and singing awkwardly loud to please the soul, talking, zoning out in the middle of a forest with music, watching comedy TV or movies, or drinking wine with a book and good company on a beach.
Hitchhiking is a great time, I think I'm starting to prefer mountain jungles over pristine beaches, but really for either I can't complain.
Looking to see something more than what I've grown up with, and I know that every experience you have you only get as much as you put into it. I'm getting on board with throwing myself into any crazy experience I can, and always find it's well worth the effort.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just went through a 10 day silent bhuddist mediatation course, built a fruit dehydrator in Costa Rica, fallen in love, realized I'm silly, created music I love, wanted to break my guitar in frustration, written songs that make people applaud in parks, and also times when they would rather flip me off... but I always seem to find that on the whole humanity is beautiful, and all anger and distaste only originates from misunderstanding (or money).

Teach, Learn, Share

If anyone wants a guitar lesson I'd love to share what I can!
