About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To finish Ordinary Magic, a book about my journey with my mother after her rediagnosis with cancer and my divorce; to transform medicine and health worldwide through a startup technology

ABOUT ME

Writer, entrepreneur, coach, lawyer, thinker, doer, skier, hiker, traveler. Landed, researched, and ghostwrote this recent book out from Random House:http://amzn.to/QTgpCT. Now living in the wonderland of Telluride, Colorado; writing; coaching; working on a startup; teaching entrepreneurship in a new program at the high school; hosting Couchsurfers; hiking or skiing; destroying karaoke stages every Wednesday night.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind, for everyone you know is fighting a great battle.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to listen to the music I love to dance to: Dean Martin's silky tenor in "Sway". The shifting sound of the guitars in "Shoot to Thrill". James Brown. Latin beats, funk. Rock and its alternative. Van Morrison's "bip bop" in "Brown-Eyed Girl". The opening lines to "American Girl" and "LA Woman". Guitars! - Cake, Jet, the White Stripes. Moby, Propellerheads, Mando Diao's throaty lead, Madcon. Also Feist, Alison Krauss, Bon Iver, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Florence + The Machine, Bitter:Sweet.

Some literary masters: Beckett (the Trilogy, the plays), Hemingway (the short stories), Garcia Marquez (the novels), Milan Kundera (his literary criticism), the critic Harold Bloom (whose central thesis of an agon among writers has greatly influenced me), Donald Barthelme and Witold Gombrowicz (both wonderfully strange), Kafka, Twain ("Huckleberry Finn," because if you're going to write one book, maybe that should be it), J.D. Salinger and George Saunders, Cormac McCarthy (his masterful "Blood Meridian" - high genius), David Mitchell ("Cloud Atlas" - genius).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My mother finishing the Camino de Santiago. Most days in Telluride, Colorado.
