Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to cook and spread the joys of Louisiana cuisine. Enjoy meeting people, playing tour guide when at home, or learning about other people's lives while traveling.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted many travelers, especially while living near Yellowstone. In 2005, I spent a semester sleeping on a couch in Kassel, Germany, and in 2010, I spent a semester sleeping on a couch in California. Perhaps living on a couch is no longer considered surfing. I have also participated in many CS events, like the Polyglot Club in Paris, Auckland, and Sydney . The DC CS community is quite active. International Pillow Fight Day, piano duo at the Austrian Embassy, and playing tour guide for surfers are highlights.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Built a LEED Platinum house for my sister, Completed Boulder Outdoor Survival School, certified in Wilderness First Response, participated in Burning Man, helped deliver a child, came face to face with a bear, saw a hummingbird moth, biked from Vienna to Ulm, saw the night sky in complete darkness, camped in the Utah desert for 7 weeks, skydiving in Hawaii, rock climbing in Yosemite, 140m dam abseil in Tasmania, cuddling with Maximus the Koala, and those little everyday things that surprise and delight.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to repair a bicycle, bake a loaf of bread, reduce a dislocated shoulder, make a fire by rubbing sticks together, plant a vegetable garden, tie a figure-8 knot, make mozzarella cheese, and other random things.
