About Me
Hi! I am Camila, I live in Santiago, Chile. I work in educational research as a psycholigist, I love my work! I grew up in a small town in the South of Chile, called Parral. I visit my hometown regularly since is 4 hours away by train, I like to see family, friends and enjoy mom's cooking of course. About three years ago, when I finish my degree, I moved to Oakland, California. I went there for the Au Pair program, and in a couple words I can say that was the best two years of my life, I got the chance to learn English, make friends from all around the world, and what I am the proudest about, get a certificate at UC Berkeley, which was a challenge from the beginning to the end, being a foreign student working 44 hours per week was hard, but I made it!! One of the most amazing things that learn while I was living in the abroad, was start to traveling every time I have the chance, and I cannot stop!! Traveling is a priority in my life, because is something that makes me feel so happy, I truly feel that I turn into a better person each time I travel. I just love to learn about other cultures, seeing new places, meeting people, tasting food, everything about traveling looks awesome for me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am always looking for things about traveling. About two years ago, while I was living in the US, I heard about couchsurfing and I tried thru a friend's profile, we visit the Grand Canyon, and we stayed inside the park because our host works there. We loved the experience!! Sharing with a "local" who knows a lot more than any blog that you can read is just amazing.
Music, Movies, and Books
I love music! There is probably no one day that I don't listen music, I am that kind of person who feels really bad when forget her headphones at home! I usually have phases about certain music or groups. What I love the most is blues, just a perfect music for every moment!
I love to watch movies, I go to the movies to see different kinds of genders. I usually love drama movies, those tend to be my favorites. I enjoy different types though! My siblings and I go to the movies all together once a month, we select a movie, we buy pounds of popcorn and then we go to have dinner to share some thoughts about the movie, and talk about our lives, I love that ritual!
I am always reading a book, specially for those long metro rides. I am actually reading Elena Ferrante's trilogy.
