ABOUT ME

My name is Camila Gadelha, I live in São Paulo, Brazil and I work with advertising, as the head of a content + creative + planning digital team. I like music, I brew my own beer and I like to travel around and meet new people.

PHILOSOPHY

I just really want to make this last as much as I can and I believe that through experiences and self-knowleged I'll find my way.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While in Brazil, I like to find people who are around and show them a good time, take them for dinner, some beers or a walk in the park.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met some of my favorite people in the entire world through this website. The first one was Matt, a self-proclaimed englishmen who has read The Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy when he was 12, but still things digital watches a pretty neat idea. Then there were Patrick, Josh and Ryan, a trio of bikers travelling from north to south america who have changed my life in ways they can't even possibly understand.

I'm into beers, books, tattoos, music and people. I'm into philosophy and poetry. I'm into football and roller derby. I like going to the movies, night clubs and concerts. I'm into jazz, punk rock, hardcore, ska, rockabilly and country.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm into old terror movies, I'm into blockbusters and I'm into Star Wars. I like chick flicks, I like funny romances and I like Disney cartoons like The Little Mermaid. I also know all the lyrics to Grease and Dirty Dancing, by heart. I'm into several types of music, but it all started with The Who. There's also The Beatles and then there's Sinatra... but they took me to places like punk rock, hardcore, The Ramones, FYP, Bad Brains and The Dead Boys. I'm in love with jazz. I love the way they drum.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've talked to strangers. Several times. I've spent the night drinking. I've spent the night awake staring at the sky hoping for a flying-source. I've spent an entire day in bed. I've eaten so much I could barely move. I've layed in the sand and I've gotten sand all over my shorts. I've loved strangers. I've won a writter's contest when I was 9. I used to be a swimmer. I've made it to Brazilian's Roller Derby National Team.I've cried myself to sleep. I've burnt myself in the oven. I've woken up, everyday, in the last 25 years. That's the most amazing thing of it all.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always carry a towel with you. Don't ever feed the animals. Don't get attached to people who are about to leave. But then forget what I said and just go and do get attached to them. Cry when they're gone. Miss them terribly, but don't let this interfere with your day to day life. Smile as often as you can, to everyone you meet. Hug people so very tight they can't scape. Smell their hair. Do whatever you want. But respect and love everyone you meet, their beliefs and their limits. Always.
