About Me

I'm a Brazilian design student living in NYC for a year.

I love to have meaningful discussions about all kinds of topics, especially if it's something that I don't know much about yet.
I like to study, experience and enjoy new technologies. I wanna use this knowledge to create solutions that help improve people's lives. I also like to cook and I'm starting to be more interested in fitness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I studied in a school with people from every part of my country, and I fell in love with the richness of the cultural exchange that happened there. I see couch surfing as an opportunity to expand this experience and get to know the different cultures, visions and problems of people from around the world.

Interests

My main interests right now are geopolitics, technology and utopias. I also like to read classic philosophy books to try to understand how the world works and why people think so differently.
For fun, I like to play videogames (I own a Wii U, a 3DS and a lot of PC games), and I watch way too much TV series and not enough movies. I also love to listen to music, dance and cook.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I enjoy listening to a lot of different things, but on my headphones it's almost always playing rock (classic/punk/alternative/indie) and sometimes pop/eletro. Right now I'm listening to Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Daft Punk, Cazuza, Fratellis, Beatles, Green Day and Blink 182.

Series:
Ok, that's a lot. Right now I'm watching 30 Rock, Arrested Development and Jessica Jones. I just finished House of Cards and Parks and Recreation. I'm waiting for Silicon Valley and Game of Thrones and I want to start watching Scream Queens and Mad Men. My all-time-favorites were The Office (US) and Gossip Girl.

Books:
I stopped reading because for a while I couldn't focus and just started reading again this semester, because of school. But I'm so glad I did. Right now I'm reading Utopia by Thomas More and 2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson. My favorite book is Candide by Voltaire.

Movies:
As I said before, not enough movies. I bought a Movie Pass so I'm watching pretty much anything that it's in theaters right now. However, I prefer to watch movies that will give me something to think about (this happens in many different genres!). I love documentaries and discovered a passion for science fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I left home when I was 14 to go to a boarding school on the other side of the country. Since then, I fell in love with the idea of becoming a global citizen and travelling the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make some easy and fast Brazilian food (and caipirinhas), how to speak Portuguese and a lot of things related to technology. I also know some random facts and stories that will eventually appear on our conversations ( I even had a friend who used to say that he could write a book about my stories).

I would love to learn anything you can tell me, especially if you speak a different language! I'm not officially learning any now, but unofficially I'm always learning them all. Also, I like to learn about how other people live their lives, I found out it is sometimes incredibly different than what I experienced so far, and I think that's awesome.
