About Me

I love travelling & hope to visit every country some day. I grew up in the UK and Germany but have lived in quite a few countries. At the moment I live in beautiful New Zealand, with my boyfriend and daughter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe travelling, experiencing different cultures and meeting new people is so important in increasing our understanding of the world.
For me, couch surfing offers an alternative to conventional accommodation that allows you to meet new people, save some money, and contributes to building a more open and friendly world community.

Interests

Environment & sustainability, travelling, animals, projects and learning (with a bit of an addiction to online courses), reading, being in nature... and lots more that I can't think of right now!

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts of music. My favourite song ever is Imagine by John Lennon.

I love all sorts of books. I love the Harry Potter series and J K Rowling's other work. Tolkien. Marion Zimmer Bradley. Stuff about legends and fantasy. Also utopian and dystopian novels. And true stories. And travel stories. Lots and lots of different books!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I feel that I have done lots of pretty amazing things!
I guess one of the first that springs to mind is swimming with wild dolphins in Kaikoura, New Zealand. Or the time I hitch-hiked from Scotland to Morocco with 2 friends for charity.

Teach, Learn, Share

My favourite quotes:

I cannot believe that the purpose of life is to be "happy". I think the purpose of life is to be useful, to be responsible, to be compassionate. It is, above all, to matter and to count, to stand for something, to have made some difference that you lived at all. - Leo C. Rosten

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.- Margaret Mead

If you are thinking a year ahead, sow a seed. If you are thinking a decade ahead, plant a tree. If you are thinking a century ahead, educate the people. - Chinese proverb

Only when the last tree has been cut down, and the last river poisoned, and the fish caught, will we realise we cannot eat money. - 19th century Cree Indian.
