About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meeting people from other countries to help satisfy my travel bug while I'm back in the U.S.!

ABOUT ME

Just moved to Philly and looking to explore my new city. I love languages and I love learning about other cultures. I want to travel and learn as I possibly can and meet great people along the way!

Traveling is great, but if you can make friends and experience a city with a local and have a true cultural experience it's even better!

So, in short, I want to learn about your culture and I'll be happy to share mine with you!

PHILOSOPHY

Treat all people with kindness, even those (or especially those) who don't seem to "deserve" it. Small acts of kindness can make change.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I can't host, but I would love to meet up with other couchsurfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Prior to couchsurfing for the first time last year, I had only stayed in hostels while traveling. While hostels were okay, I often found it hard to meet interesting people that could hold good conversations.
After couchsurfing for the first time while living in France this past year, I had such good experiences that I hope to couchsurf whenever possible now!

My hosts during this trip were so welcoming and kind. They showed me around their cities, taught me about their cultures, and made me feel at home. Rather than feeling like a lonely traveler in an unfamiliar city like I sometimes did while staying in hostels, while couchsurfing, I felt at home, got to know the culture, and made new friends. I'm now a convert to couchsurfing and hoping to have more opportunities to participate soon!

Interests

Hiking, kayaking, being outside, traveling, snowshoeing, drawing, reading a good book outside with the sun shining and a nice breeze blowing, cooking, wine-tasting, chocolate-eating, and beer-drinking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love languages, so I'll be happy to share with you any that I know and I am always looking to improve my own skills. I am almost fluent in French and beginner-intermediate in Spanish. I also want to learn Swahili.

I'm a decent cook and baker, so I'd be happy to teach you how to make some great vegetarian dishes or some delicious chocolate baked goods.
