Overview
About Me
I am a young researcher in biomedicine, stem cell biology, and molecular neuroscience. I am currently finishing my PhD project on how to use human pluripotent stem cells therapeutically to cure spinal cord injury and am based in a laboratory at Univerity College London, UCL.
I generally like keeping busy. When I am not running around experimenting in the lab, I teach a youth after school program, where I play pen&paper roleplaying games with teenagers, train street fighting (a mixture of escrima, wing tsun, and krav maga) with a bunch of policemen, or do rock climbing.
I love music, and am trying to teach myself playing guitar (and more), have tons of books lying around my flat, but rarely find time to read them, and I love to dance, although I am quite terrible at it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I was introduced to the concept of Couchsurfing two years ago when travelling Southeast Asia with a friend and found it to be a great way to meet amazing people and explore new countries and cultures. I usually travel to widen my horizon and with Couchsurfing I find that you get to see a different side of a new country, learn tips and tricks to a new place and at the same time get to explore social connections and new friendships.
In general I think Couchsurfing is a great chance to get a deeper and more meaningful travel experience and very different from what you can achieve from staying at hotels or hostels.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I like a lot of different music; rock, indie, pop, blues, jazz, metal... A few of my favourite artists are The Knife, Fever Ray, Blue Foundation, The Cranberries, Beirut, Agnes Obel, Mumford & Sons, Matt Corby, Sia, Ruelle, Aurora, Lifehouse, Mew, Tracy Chapman, Imagine Dragons, The Pretty Reckless, Gojira, In Flames, Killswitch Engage, Within the Ruins...
Movies/series: Pan's Labyrinth, Black Swan, Memoirs of a Geisha, Into the wild, Kill Bill (and a lot of other Tarantino movies), everything Tim Burton, Hayao Miyazaki's movies, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Rick and Morty, Avatar the last airbener, SKAM... Oh, and I've watched every Disney movie more than once.
Books: The Harry Potter series, Game of Thrones, Old fairytales and sagas... Right now I'm going through classics and very much enjoyed To Kill a Mockingbird, The Bell Jar, The Catcher in the Rye, Neverwhere, Good Omens, and A Clockwork Orange (I prefer the book over the movie).
Teach, Learn, Share
I know a lot of sciency stuff. In particular in the areas of human physiology, biomedicine, molecular biology, neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease, and stem cell research. And I am more than happy to engage in scientific discussions at any level. I think knowledge sharing and communication is exceedingly important.
I really enjoy having people change my mind and my beliefs with good arguments. Be it on academic matters, religion, culture, social matters, or whether unicorns are cool or not.
I am a fairly good, if uninventive, cook and make pretty good Scandinavian pancakes. I am also pretty handy, be it with a hammer and screwdriver or paint, crayons, and papier-mâché.
I would love some tips and tricks on developing my (rather poor) guitar playing skills, some cool dance moves, or just some good hang outs with interesting conversations.
