About Me
Hello! My name is Camille and I am excited to be learning more about this couchsurfing community! I am 22 years old and live in Kansas City, Missouri but am currently studying abroad in Granada, Spain through my university. At my university I study psychology and Spanish. In the future I plan to pursue a career in counseling, specifically counseling for missionaries living abroad. I am in my final year of undergraduate studies and am in the process of applying for graduate schools. I suppose the best way to describe me, as many of my friends and family have so endearingly done, is as an "old soul" both in relation to my interests and personality. I am relatively reserved and introverted but at the same time extremely open and welcoming. In a world that is often very loud, overwhelming, and demanding, I enjoy my relaxed, easy-going, and calm demeanor. I am looking forward to exploring what this resource has to offer and to hopefully meeting you during my travels!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Traveling is one of my favorite pastimes, but I am often hindered by the finances required to do it as often as I would like. Couchsurfing seems like a perfect avenue to cut the cost of traveling significantly while also allowing me to truly immerse myself in the culture of wherever I am visiting. Hotels and other similar accommodations often lead to a more isolated traveling experience, whereas Couchsurfing allows me to meet people I wouldn't normally have the opportunity to meet and to learn directly from the locals and their experiences about what it is like living in their city. I am not typically one to start up conversations with strangers on my own accord, and this resource gives me an "in" to meet new people in a way that is more comfortable for me. In general, this is such a great idea!

Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoy movies & music so I will try to make the lists semi-short. I do enjoy reading, but I'm not a very good reader, as in it often makes me tired and I have trouble finishing books. I think I enjoy buying books more than actually reading them sometimes, although I always have good intentions! Anyway, back to the lists.
Movies:
Pride & Prejudice (2005 adaptation)
Lord of the Rings
The Princess Bride
Oscar
What's Up Doc
Into the Wild
Pure Luck
Finding Nemo
Diarios de motocicleta
... So many more.
Music:
Classical
Classic Rock
Crooners/big band (anything from the 20s-50s, e.g., Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Fred Astaire)
Folk pop (e.g., Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men)
Hillsong United, Elevation Worship, United Pursuit
Choral music
Oldies
... It's hard to just pick one favorite of all the genres I like because there are many.
Books:
The Bible
The Heavenly Man by Brother Yun
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
The Lightning Thief series by Rick Riordan
Quiet by Susan Cane (if you're an introvert like me and have struggled with being that way, I highly recommend!)
Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer
... Small caveat: I am also not great at remember what books I have read and I hardly ever read a book twice, so this is by no means exhaustive!
