About Me

Well hello! I'm Camille, but you can just call me Cam. I'm a French-Canadian and I'm about to start a new program at university in the fall for the next 3 years. Therefore, I'm looking to fill my summer with great experiences and discoveries before being trapped by my studies. I plan to spend a few weeks by myself in the USA and then meet up with a friend in Mexico. Will you be part of my journey?
One of my main priorities in life is caring about the environment, so if you share the same value, I'm sure we'll get along and I won't have any problem following the house rules. If you don't share it, well it ain't a bother either, I have lots a other interests and I try to keep an open mind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am fully aware that I'm a little shy and socially anxious, so it would be difficult for me to meet new people, but that is exactly why I'm going on this solo trip and why I'm choosing Couchsurfing. I want to confront myself and work through whatever fear I've got of connecting with new people. On top of it, some of my best memories from past trips were when we knew or talked to the locals. I remember getting randomly invited to go bowling at 22pm on a Tuesday and it turned out to be one of the nights I remember the most today. It is something I'd like to recreate for sure!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a pretty wide variety of music. I'd say I mostly listen to music from the 50' to the 90', whether it's pure disco/pop or great rock/progressive rock, I like it all! Then, I guess, what follows on my list is current (2000 + ) pop music, though I do feel a little bit disconnected with new music since I hit my 20's. Finally, I dabble in classic, jazz and traditional music.
As for tv, again, I love a wide variety. From classic sitcoms to Asian dramas and a dash of thrillers in between, if you're a tv lover, I'm sure we can find a match. The first show I've ever watched completely is Chuck and I have to admit that it is still my favorite show, probably because I get too attached to characters. It also marked the real beginning of my journey into learning English. Thanks tv, without you, I probably couldn't travel!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always interested in learning and trying new things. I'd be delighted if you shared with me a conversation or an experience on a topic that you're passionate about.
Personally, I enjoy sharing eco friendly tips, hearing about local initiatives and literally anything else.
It'd also be amazing if you could teach me some Spanish before I leave to Mexico. I am aslo learning Mandarin Chinese, I must be somewhere between HSK2 and 3 by now. So, maybe, if you happen to know the language, we could try having some basic conversations. I would love it.
I can also do the same. I always hoped to one day teach French to someone.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not very good at these kinds of things. I'm all for sharing a meal, doing activities together (or not). I believe I'm adaptable. The only thing I could ask is for my host to communicate clearly their expectations. Although I must admit that I'm secretly hoping to find someone to hang out with and visit the surroundings, I totally get that you have a life.
